It didn't really make my hair stand on end. Running through the "T" does that and also makes my eyes go blurry for some strange reason. Must be the allergies. That my friend is called tradition.

Winning was a tradition too..I could care less about any of this. I want to start winning consistently again. They could could clone 2pac and Biggie and do a rendition of Rocky Top and I wouldn't give a F""+ as long as were winning and not having guys arrested every 2year months.

I don't really want to change things but all the traditionalist need to get over themselves. EVERYTHING outside of the uniforms and the size of the field has changed......even in the last few years. The ONLY tradition that matters is winning. I don't give a #%*+ if they wear pink helmets and feathers. Just beat the sh*t out of uga, uf, bama, & win the sec year in & out!

Change or tweaks to traditions are inevitable. I've been a vols fan my entire life and never miss the vols running through the T. But I wouldn't be against modernizing the entrance with a music change. That said it's not top of any request list I would make.

You don't think those schools haven't changed things over the years? Plus they have great recruiters and coach's. If you think Saban, Kiffin, Meyer haven't modernized things then we need to talk about some cheap land with buried oil I will see to you. AND I can promise Dooley is too. Messing with uniforms is one thing and even that has had gradual changes within the past 10-15 yrs..

What have they changed? OSU still dots the I, Bama still thinks Bryant is still alive and USC still runs the white horse traveler. True enough they are good recruiters (Kiffin is a snake oil salesman but anyhow) but they have not changed traditional stuff about their programs just to satisfy a bunch of snot nosed premaddona brats. If y'all want cool new hip stuff go be a Oregon or Boise State fan. I'm 30 years old and I didn't grow up looking at black jerseys and watching them run onto the field to enter sandman. And yes I know UT wore black jerseys in the early days but the Orange jerseys has been around alot longer.

It's fine to make some changes to help modernize the program, but I don't understand why any Tennessee football fan would ever even dream of doing away with running through the T. Should Ohio State stop dotting the "i"? Should Notre Dame stop wearing gold helmets? Should Auburn stop the war eagle chant? These things are what make college football what it is. Plus, why would we want to copy Virginia Tech anyway?

Never said that stuff changed. I Said things have been modernized everywhere. From the music at games, recruiting, gear the players wear, FAX cams, FAX Cam girls. Little things change every year at tradition rich schools. I would never want Running through the T changed, nor Rocky Top changed when they do come out. You see teams locked in arms coming out sometimes and that's not a tradition. A HC wearing orange pants and an Adidas pullover...Also not a tradition.

Im beginning to think the orange britches are bad luck jmo. UT has upgraded the facility's and that is a big part of it. We are headed in that direction and that's good. But something's should just be left the **** alone.

I just think kids want excitement, and this is exciting. No one thinks running threw a T is cool except us, I like what we have but to win we need good players and to get good players we need some energy and excitement into our program. Im not looking for a fight on a message board I just wanted to see what VN thought about this. I guess I got my answer :banghead2:

Yeah, noooooo. Running through the "T" is much better than the dotting of the "i" at OSU. Maybe you should stop posting here and start this thread on an OSU board, cause it won't fly here.

When did I talk about OSU. You need to get your facts right.

I agree. I love our colors and wear them proudly along with black and grey Vol shirts I have but truely the Orange pants are pretty God Awful and like you they could be bad luck. Just hoping he has decided to not bring those back and go back to Khaki.

Yeah but all im saying is it would be sick to do this 1 or 2 times a year, I get tradition but its about time we start some new traditions!

so....we should start a new tradition by stealing a lesser teams tradition?
possibly the worst idea ever.
and you picked like the most overused cliche song.

Seems like MZTERRY made mention of Croom having to fight the urge to run through the T himself on a visit. If true, it must resonate with some recruits. Speaking from past experience, I've never heard a stadium erupt like Neyland when the T opens. I've been to most SEC stadiums, and the entrance just doesn't compare.

When we're good it's too loud to even hear the band playing as the team runs out of the T anyway. Piped in music would just take away from the awesomeness of 100,000 screaming voices.

OP: No. No. No. That song is played at way too many high schools and even some elementary school games. I can assure you that one of these days you'll look at running through the T with a band playing as something special. Not a fan of either, but can you imagine if Michigan played Pantera instead of Hail to the Victors or if Ohio State didn't dot the I? Like I wrote: I don't care for either, but some things just stand the test of time and mean more traditionally than a catchy tune. No one hears "Enter Sandman" and automatically thinks of Virginia Tech, but a majority of people hear Rocky Top and Hail to the Victors and thinks of Tennessee and Michigan, respectively. Not to pick on VT, but a wiser man than I once said, "Virginia Tech: 100 years of football and 15years of quasi tradition."
