I hope the Bajakian hate is going to die down now

And he will still be tired of saying the same thing....I know I'm tired of hearing it

Well, rightfully so. He says its not read option, but we line up and run plays like read option

The media just wanted to know if we were indeed read option, then why was Worley not running

Kind of funny that the media questions it Monday and miraculously, Worley runs for two TDs Saturday

Butch said the read option is based on how u block the play.....most of our plays are not read option....why is this so hard to understand?

Loss

Damn

Agreed. People are tired of excuses because we've been rebuilding for a decade, but the reality is our coachig staff is in their second year and have a big mess to clean up.

+1

Majors would never have survived the modern social media era where everybody is a Monday-morning quarterback with an open forum. Instant gratification, please. NOW!

What do u have to base your opinions on? You refuse to accept that Dooley didn't recruit a single lineman in 2012.....that the ones he did recruit are not able to win the position to the point we have two true freshman starting on the right side, one a converted DT and this caused us to play Kerbyson to out of position. I don't have any proof that he will get it done when he solidifies our depth chart but u don't have any proof he won't either.

You and a lot of other posters are nothing more than parakeets at this point with that factoid in bold.

I don't refuse to accept anything other than the fact that the offensive line and, conversely, the offense, isn't playing at a high enough and consistent level to win games in the SEC.

You however, refuse to accept that 6/10 in the two deep on the O line came to campus since Jones was the coach.

And also conveniently to choose to ignore the fact that Jones knew what Dooley recruited in 2012, knew the status of the returning players last season, and has apparently whiffed on Blair.

At some point, it should be about the staff that is here now, not the coach that was here 2 years ago.

Yeah I agree that it is on him but to expect him to have every issue fixed halfway through yr two is ridiculous. I'm unhappy as anyone but also realistic about the situation that he walked into.

What's so unrealistic about expecting a team to make a bowl with Vanderbilt in their way or manage to hang onto a 9-0 lead in the 4th against Florida when they completely dominated the game?

Frankly, its ridiculous that Vol fans have to worry about losing to the likes of KY or Vandy but that's where we are at.

I have never said they have to win a championship by Year 2 or even Year 4.

You just read a dissenting opinion that doesn't fall into the narrow Butch Gets It lexicon of Vol Nation and assume it's unreasonable.

A coach that has made a career on being an offensive guy well on his way to putting up an offense that will rank in the bottom third of the country two years running and facing major obstacles in year 3 ( the O line will still be a work in progress and the QB situation is downright scary to me) is a bit concerning though.

If we had Worley then we beat Vandy and make a bowl last yr....... The Florida game sucked worse than any game I have watched in a long time.....it's also his second yr of a total rebuild so I'm patient.....it was completely rock bottom and we are on our way back with the kind of talent he is bringing in.

:unsure:I agree with your post, But I still do not like Bajakian's play calling. To me it just seems so predictable. But then again I am just an armchair coach, I hope he proves me wrong. Go Vols!
has anyone ever thought of the fact the the lines limitations limit the plays that he can call? I mean people are blowing my mind with thier lack of.. functioning brains.

This Oline is bad. Bad in a way that no amount of coaching is going to fix it this year. Best case scenario is something clicks and they become just bad instead of Epicly terrible. The fact a former walk-on with no acl is likely to come back as a starter is not what the first sign was.. the first sign this line was bad is before he got hurt when he won the starting job. It was an indication of how bad everyone behind him was. Nthing against these kid's. Most of them would be fine playing their natural positions and play on the inerior of the line has not been as glaring as the tackle position. Again this is not something that can really be blamed on the coaches directly or the players so much as they should be backups. The biggest problem happened before any of them got here. When Dooley decided not to recruit oline for a year.

Realistically, we have shown massive improvement on this team at every position except for oline. If you cannot see that you are blind. The running backs are better. The WR's better, Worley is better, the entire defense is better. So this team is going in the right direction. The teams we lost to are good teams.

Floridas defense is really good no matter what the blind say. Georgia had Gurley. I honestlly think the oline played their worst game against UTC but honestly I think it was more because of youth and who we played. I am from chattanooga.. in chatt right now. I promise you those guys circled this game on their calendar the day they found out about it. Our young online overloked them probably thought they would manhandle them and got a big wakeup call.

In my opinion scheduling instate OOC games is a dangerous proposition because there is no real upside. Those kids got up for that game more so than they ever have before in their lives likely. They were playing outside themselves. Our oline is bad but there was more going on than just that. The fact we were on every other game the way were were if obvious proof of that. I for one am glad we have already had what has to be their worst game (I pray) and trust me they got a big wakeup call this morning in the film room.

Again, We saw the same issues with a senior line playing in the NFL now

EXACTLY!!! Thank you very much......it's not the Indians, it's the chief OC......

It's depressing when you see all of the really GOOD offensive systems in the SEC to watch this Big East excuse for an SEC offense......:salute:

Yep he is tired of people asking the same question and having to give the same answer.

Well, excuse me, but that goes with the territory of being a SEC coach and making millions of dollars coaching 18-22 yr old football players.....

And, IF you have a young, inexperienced and undeveloped OL--which indeed we have....then you DON'T zone block with them against Jr. and Sr. SEC DL....you create double teams and run counters, traps, and counter gaps to give our young guys ANGLES OF ATTACK instead of asking them to line up and muscle guys off the line of scrimmage.

OR--you could leave a DL unblocked and run the read-option and put the pressure back on the DEFENSE instead of on a young OL....

And, even so--we did put up 32 points against UGA....I believe that was with this SAME YOUNG OL.....And, if our receivers can catch perfectly thrown balls and we don't call a STUPID PASS play on 3rd and 2 from the 4 yd line--we play OK to a 27--20 or one score game....And OK had the BEST defense we've faced to this point....

But what has happened to us since OK and UGA? Same players, same OL......but what??? There's no confidence and clear plan of attack....which falls on the OC.....

And we face possibly the toughest Defense of our schedule this Saturday night.....GO VOLS! :salute:

Have you considered that Floridas D is just that much better than Georgias? There could be a whole host of variables that played into to us scoring 9 points against Florida. Its just stupid to place all the blame on the OC.

I keep hearing our offensive line is so young. We'll 3 out of our 5 linemen have been in the program for 4 years.

So we can agree to take lack of talent out as a reason why we are underperforming on the offensive line?

The play book will be opened up more when the OL gets better. You can talk about last years Offense having the same problems all you want but it is just not true. In fact we have the complete opposite of last years problems.

Last years offensive line would make this years team much better period. Last year was their first year in a new system so of course the play calling is going to be conservative. There is no doubt in my mind that this years team would be light years ahead of where they are with a talented OL in their second yr running the same system.

You have to start thinking before you post this crap.

I'm not saying our line was bad last year. I'm saying that the same issues with play calling this year, happened last year, so a different or experienced line won't coorect that

Yes, we did beat them and still lost to Vandy

You didn't give a pass to Dooley for youth, inexperience, and injuries

Why Jones?

Because he's playing the most freshmen in the country. When you understand that, you'll understand why he says it.

I understand he blames the staff, he posts it in every thread for crying out loud.

I guess I'm just not following some of the points he's trying to make.

This is because most of his points don't connect and are erratic. But, to each his own.
