Maybe, but I think the powers that be at your school had to know how this would play out from the start.
That said, while I'm all for teams embracing border rivalries (like the one potentially there with Arkansas) Kansas should really get off its horse about playing you guys again. Historic border or same-state rivalries like yours with Kansas and Texas-Texas A&M should never really stop playing (outside of the hatred of fans reaching levels that compromise safety).
Agreed. But we (Missouri) need to step away from it, at least at this moment in time.
The reason is, every time we bring it up, they act like we're asking them to do us a big favor as if we need them more than they need us, and it's really quite the opposite.
I really believe part of this is there floundering failing football team is a big black hole, and they are content being a basketball school.
If Missouri was on their football schedule, we would pound them. That would make their admins and alumni do something about their horrible football team.
But without Missouri on the football schedule, it allows them to get away with treating football like any other non-revenue sport. They hired an unknown positional coach as their HC, paying him the lowest salary in all of P5 football: $900,000. That's even lower than some non-P5 HC, and many P5 coordinators!
They also have arguably the worst P5 stadium. There are Texas high schools that have better stadiums. Any improvements have been tabled for decades.
