I have a sinking feeling......

I have a sinking feeling we are about to lose 7 games in a row. Anybody got words of encouragement? Really concerned about QB position which is key. Another 17 year old QB recruit is not going to be the answer IMO.
You’re right about it being a QB driven league.

I expect the Vols to improve each week. Mostly thru becoming more consistent. There are flashes of really good to great football and then the ditch. Once expected improvement occurs the poor performance won’t be so bad and not as often.

When it comes to Mo, SC, OM and Ky, it’s not how good they are that’s the issue, it’s our inconsistent play that will determine the outcome of those games. Or unfortunate turnovers.

I would focus on special teams and defense.

Both appear better than what was expected so far and will be key in knocking anyone off in an upset.

SC and KY appear to be the more promising winnable games In the next 7 IMO.

I dont hold out much hope against MO on the road. Almost always seem to have trouble against them as well.

You may be right. But if we lose 7 straight, and look bad doing it, things will start heating up again in Knoxville. I, however, think it is highly unlikely we drop 7 straight.

So let me get this straight. Things could heat up in Knoxville in year one? After Heupel only has 71 scholarship players and facing sanctions that are not his fault? If this truly happens then the university and all who have anything to do with football need to be fired.

I mean my God, we can’t even give a head coach ONE stinking year now???

People are reading too much into KY/UTC final score. KY and OM have the personnel to straight up beat Vols and those game will depend on them no making mistakes. Mizzou I have not watched much but assume will be a toss up. SC and Vandy should be wins but both are playing hard and not giving up when down. There is only one more gimmie game on the schedule.

I think we will also beat Missou. However, the offense will have to start playing much better for that to happen. If the offense can score, our defense will be able to keep us above water. If the offense plays like they have the first 3 games, we will lose 7 games.

Nah man. I think we beat South Carolina and split Missouri/Kentucky. Maybe even beat both of those teams. 7-5 would be pretty YUGE for this team. The Pitt loss stings though. Would’ve been a good W to pick up.
We’re never as bad or as good as we the fans think.
I had zero expectations for this year. I still don’t. There were just too many unknowns. I’ll decide what I think about next year at the end of this one until then it’s just observing and gathering information.

I think we beat Kentucky. Seems like even when we are down it’s mental for them. They smoked us last year because the kids were sending a message to Pruitt

Of course we can.

Don’t mistake a vocal minority of posts here for a majority opinion.

If you look at the likes on a post, that can usually tell you whether most people agree.

Usually the outlandish sh@t gets relatively few likes

Not trying to be smart alec here, but it’s encouraging to me to know that it’s just a football game and it doesn’t ultimately matter who wins. I’ve developed that philosophy more since UT has struggled, and it’s been a positive one. Doesn’t hurt that it’s also true.

this is going to be the key for sure…… special teams and field position.

I’d say, “Buckle up, Buttercupp.” At least for the next two years, it’s going to be difficult. It’s obvious by just the eye test, that we don’t have the athletes to be very competitive for at least that period of time. Beginning year three, there may be some hope to see some hope, depending on NCAA ( under today’s environment, I don’t expect much), and the ability of our coach and his staff.

What I mean is Heating up from an impatient fan base perspective. Is it right? No. Do I agree with it? No. Will I be screaming Fahr Heupel? No. Will most of the fan base? Probably

If we look at the program and how it's fared vs early doomsday predictions, I can understand the pessimistic attitudes. I can also understand the hope...new coach, new AD. The problem I think is the big one is many fans just don't care anymore.

How are we going to get said athletes with this poor recruiting

Heupel is in a NO WIN situation this year. Yes, expect a horrible season, it's just getting started. For me, others may do as they wish, Heupel gets some grace. He's not a miracle worker and can only do so much with what he has to work with. The talent isn't there, say what you want, it isn't. Sure you've got some talent peppered here and there. But overall, this team is lacking.

I am in the 7 or 8 loss camp myself.

The game yesterday didn't inspire me offensively despite scoring 56 points.

3rd down was a problem and they couldn't get consistent push in the running game against a completely overmatched team.
