So you don't think the potential of athletes can be measured with a reasonable degree of accuracy? If that's true then why should we hold Jones accountable if he were to lose 10 games? Maybe the players just aren't any good. It isn't fair to fire him for something he was incapable of knowing, right?
It isn't something that can be done with absolute precision... but even the recruiting rankings system demonstrates that it can be measured in a meaningful way.

First, who said anything about firing him?
Sure the athlete talent can be measured with somewhat reasonable accuracy. But can he put it all together, and that's wher the issue comes. I view the team as more than the starting 22, its the back ups, coaches etc. So has Jones assembled a team that should win 10 games, yes. Has he assembled a team capable of doing so? No, not yet.
