99gator, are you happy with the Mullen hire? I thought he was a can't miss hire.

When the whole thing started, I was hoping for Frost or Taggart.

Never thought they would go after Kelly. They did. I was disappointed it didn't happen.

Mullen never crossed my mind because I was sure he hated Florida. So, I never thought it would happen. But, if you read my comments in the Mullen thread that floated around here, I think he reached the ceiling at Mississippi State and can develop Qb's.

I think it's a good hire. I'm not clearing out spaces in the trophy case, but believe in a year or two, you're going to have to beat Florida. Florida isn't going to be incompetent and beat themselves.

And if that's the best they can do under Mullen, it's in a better place than it's been in a while.

We are a very inclusive fan base. We welcome closet Vols with open arms.

I'm sure for most Gator fans the debacle going on in Knoxville is helping ease the sting of a Mullen hire but I honestly think he's a solid hire. I wish we were getting him. After attending MS State it's amazing to me he was able to cultivate consistent talent there.

This wasn't about a singular event. This wasn't only about Schiano and Penn State.

It was about Kiffin. It was about Dooley. It was about Jones.

But, it was also about Pearl, Cuonzo and Tyndall.

It was about Delmonico, Raleigh and Serrano.

It was about the tragic end of the Pat Summit era and watching that program slowly be just another SEC team under Holly. A good team for sure, but not what once was.

It was about an athletic program that arguably is currently inferior to Vanderbilt.

It was about finishing 13th overall in the SEC men's all-sports standings for 2016-17. It's about not producing a men's SEC championship team since 2011 men's tennis.

It was about an athletic program that has failed and disappointed time and again. And through it all, people continued to cheer, support, travel, pay and hope.....only to be lied to, let down, and forced to endure.

But, this time would be different. The President of the school changed. The athletic director changed. All of the past failure was well documented. It could not be repeated. It would not be repeated. This time it was going to be different.

And then it wasn't.

And the people, who only have their voices, stood up and said "hell no". As many have pointed out, it united this fan base like nothing else in a decade. Everyone agreed. Everyone had enough. "Hell no". In a matter of a few hours, the push back was so strong that those in power had no choice but to listen.

I know that Tennessee fans are catching hell in some places, but I can only put myself in your shoes and say "I get it".

Great post

My goodness, 99. A more eloquent summary of this sorry state of affairs I don't think I could possibly imagine. Thank you.

You're good people even though you're gator fan but you don't get it. You can't understand it until you're being beat down by the likes of Vandy. Y'all are looking for championships we're trying to get relevance right now. Currie trots out this POS who's not only mediocre but also has this garbage in his past after speaking about a high character hire? And the media just believes fans should shut up and eat the feces being shoveled to us?

F them all.

This is beautiful man and really encouraging to know that someone somewhere else gets it. Granted if you were to show this to Booger or some of the other nation hacks I could predict the response with startling accuracy..."He was backed by Belichik and Meyer who say he was a great coach who cares what his actual players and record think of him.

Good on ya 99 if all Gators were like you I could maybe stomach a few more of them.
