I feel a LOT better about our trip to the Swamp...

I'm betting FL goes all in on stopping the run and does a pretty good job of that and keeps us to <125 yards most of which comes from a few runs. I think in going all in on the run they blow some coverages and let us post 280+ by air and you lose by 7-14 pts. If our receivers get any separation on 2nd and long or 3rd and short your toast, and I think they will.

we didn't have to do that last year we played a base 3-3-5 to stop passing game but held UT to less than 50 yards on the ground with Howard,Justin Trautt and Brandon Antwaine/Hunter at DL.

UT more than the past have a good base to go into the swamp and put a little scare into UF, I believe it depends on the games progress...if we keep it close thru the game then we will have a chance to win at the end...but if we give UF confidence early then we could be toast...but thats why the play the game

Of interest:
1. Bray>Simms

Simms was your best player last year,
Outside of out anemic pass rush and poor coverage over so much time.

2. Malik, JJ, & BB

Our D was also on the field too long because we had no run
3. TP, ML, Bullard, Stone, et all.

it really will be a battle of the unknowns.

i can name a bunch of florida players and how good they potentially may be, but they haven't done anything.

the names or positions that people are throwing out there about tennessee also haven't done anything.

this is where the volsheimer's jokes always come in. tennessee beats up on kentucky and vandy and people think they are about to take off.

i've got to see tyler bray, the tennessee offensive line, etc, etc, etc, do it against someone worth something.

we'll have to wait and see.

IIRC JJ and Malik played/started the game. Not worried about any of UT running back against UF. Haven't had a RB go over 50 yards since Hardesty... he was the first since 2005.

And I have to see Florida not totally suck with this new offense and coaching staff before I believe they will be good.

You do realize that Hardesty was only 2 years ago??? You bring that up like it has been forever.

I'd be worried. This O-line is damn good. Best one at UT in a while.

UF numbers were down in the spring but we have more OL exp with guys like Nixon,Patch,Harrison,Wegner,Wilson,Halapio who have all played/started 20+ games. IF healthy UF unit is better and deeper. Plus getting coach by a Top 3 OL coach in the game.

HG-He said 'Nuff said. There is no rebuke to that statement.

Iirc Malik wasn't at DT in that game..and he had a bunch of rookies around him. Our line was a mess till the second half of the season. We gave a fairly good UNC D all they wanted before the new recruits and before another year of S&C. This also doesn't account for Bray because your D played against Simms.
Bottom line I'm not worried about the FL game win lose or draw, again we have nothing to lose. I do hope your team does look past us though.

I love when they are this cocky... means if we win the loss will hurt that much more because they won't be able to understand how they lost to such lackluster talent.

I would almost say that this is the best OL that we have placed on the field in the last 10 yrs

He's right by their measurements though. They just won 2 NC's so their fan base won't stand to losing to a 6-7 UT. It's why I say HG is full of it, this game is big for both squads.

We know that.... they don't...

you don't know jack and neither do i. that's been the point of my posts.

we know nothing. tennessee's offensive line hasn't done squat against a real opponent. '

the way i figure it, tennessee is the 7th best opponent florida will play. so, yeah, if they struggle that would be a big problem.

if florida beats tennessee, it will be like every season of the past several seasons. i won't have a clue how good florida really is.

florida is probably the 6th or 7th best opponent tennessee will play. if tennessee loses to florida again, that would also not be good.

now, i know we always perform a bunch of guesswork in the offseason. however, this year, more than any other, we don't know jack.

the only thing i do know is that florida and georgia were really bad football teams last season and they both beat tennessee by a couple of td's.
