I can't find 5 wins

Fulmer also helped with those last 4 years of Major's success as the OC

Yes he did but the head coach, Majors, gets the credit.

The same can be said about Cutcliffe. The record shows a large part of Fulmer's success was due to Cutcliffe. The head coach, Fulmer, gets the credit.

The head ball coach gets credit for the good and blame for the bad during his tenure as coach.

I give credit to Fulmer for his hard work and success from 1992 - 2001. I also blame his for his overall lackluster job from 2002 - 2008. He was a complete different coach his last several years. To say he had nothing to do with the rise to greatness and then the downfall of the Tennessee football program is ridiculous.

Fulmer has been gone for 6 years don't blame him for all that has happened to this program during that span. The problem with Tennessee is call "Cheapidis" Fulmer didn't tell them to hire all those sorry coaches between him and Butches tenure to rebuild the program did he?

After Bama beats us we will win out. USC east isn't very good at all. Hell Kensucky beat them. Mizzou has an okay D but got beat by IU, so just depends what D shows up for that game but UT wins by 7. UK is fools gold they don't win a game the rest of the year. And Vandy is just Vandy. 7-5 and in the music city bowl against an average ACC team.

Games like this with no offensive imagination in the end will destroy recruiting. No one wants to play for a team who can't score.

If Fulmer had done his job and not allowed the program to deteriorate or had the love for the program to step down instead of becoming compliance we would not be in this position.

The program started going downhill in 2001. If he had stepped down 2002 -2005 the TN job was one of the elite jobs in college football. In 2008 it was not.

Question has Fulmer had any hand in the recruiting and any coaching within the last 6 years? To blame Fulmer for what is going on is akin to every president blaming his predecessor for his inabilities for doing his job. Do you think Tennessee has went all out in hiring the best candidate for the head coaching position every time since Fulmer or have they taken the cheap way out? We will agree to disagree on this point.

The point is Fulmer let the program slide. So yes I blame Fulmer for the downfall of the program. Next would be Hamilton for making 2 bad hires.

Look at the coaching salaries. It doesn't appear TN took the cheap way out. When Kiffin and staff was hired it was reported we had the highest paid assistant coaching staff in the NCAA.

Butch is not working on the cheap.

To say Fulmer had nothing to do with the download of the program is ridiculous. Look at the record books. They are not slanted one way or the other.

The new coach or president, since you brought politics into it, is to build on the successes or repair the failures their predecessor left behind. There was no success left behind at the end of 2008 in either case

Has I said we can agree to disagree on this point, I myself will not beat a dead horse. It has been six years since Fulmer and I say again "I" think this program should be farther along than what it is now.

MO is beating FL 42-0 in the 3rd in the Swamp. We only managed 9 at home against FL; MO will not be a W. UM only managed 119 yards of offense. Gators gave them the game with turnovers. UM is beatable.

AL put over 600 yards on TA&M today; AL will not be a W Agree

KY is getting man handled by LSU; KY is a 50-50 game By a below par LSU team. Kentucky is returning to normal.

SC beat a D-1 AA team; SC is a 50-50 game Agree

Vandy is Vandy; Vandy should be a W Agree

No margin for error with our remaining schedule & our anemic offense.

I'm a bit more optimistic than you. I think the remaining schedule (with the exception of Bama) sets up nicely with a reasonable chance to win out. 7-6 is still available and in this context should be considered a good season.

Mizzu only scored 1 or2 offensive TDs. Mauk was bad again.
UK was exposed.
SC is not very good...
No sense in throwing in the towel.

A lot of the people on here were saying 8-10 wins this year and since they were wrong they want to throw out the coaching staff. I stuck with 4-6 and next year may not be much better.

2016 is the year we can point to for 8-10 wins.

Butch won't get to coach 2016 if he doesn't post a winning season in 2015.

I dont think alot of people understand that when your sitting at 3-5 the tea ms morale will probobaly be at an all time low.I dont think these coaches have the ability to get this team up to win 3 out of 4 and definitely not 4 out of 4 games. 4-8 or 5-7. Looks like four losing seasons in a row!

funny you want him gone after 2005, and we went 9-4 and 10-4 in 2006 and 2007....

Now were hanging on hope by our finger nails trying to win 6 games...

the way fulmer was fired is probably one of the reasons...we didn't get a competitive coach, the first few try's....They could see how Hambone was handling the situation and didn't want to work for an asshat like that. Hambone ****ed this program

We also won 5 games in 2005 and 2007.

The university was too loyal to Fulmer. The record speaks for itself.
No SEC championship in 10 years and 3 of his last 7 years we were not ranked. In 2006 we squeezed in at 25.
This is after being one of the premier programs in the nation. From 2002
forward it was a slow downhill slide to mediocrity. Who else can you blame the fall to mediocrity on other than the Head Coach? Answer no one.

We should be better after 6 years. Kiffin leaving in the middle of the night after one season hurt, Hamilton hiring Dooley was a 100% disaster that never should have happened. That finished the program. It is going to take a little time for Butch to rebuilt. The last coach to rebuilt the program was Majors, I would think the majority of the posters on here are not old enough to remember the struggle he went through but he slowly got the job done and made TN a player again. Give Butch time he will get it done

Can you imagine most of these posters' reactions when they saw their bride without makeup for the first time? No team in the SEC is a worse match-up for us than Ole Miss. Don't jump off the Henley Street Bridge yet.

Much less 6?????
How do we

You can't see South Carolina?
You can't see Missouri?
You can't see Kentucky?
You can't see Vandy?

Vandy might be the only definite, but other than Bama, the other four are winnable. Again, not saying we will win them all, but if you can't see them, maybe it's time to get some glasses.

Agree, We gotta keep it together or we could see another score like yesterday. Hope everyone now understands this a 11 man sport and the OL is other than QB most important part of the team and hardiest.

You can thank Phil Fulmer and Mike Hamilton for destroying our football program. In a couple of years you will be able to thank Butch Jones and Dave Hart for restoring our program to it's rightful place, competing for the SEC Championship.

No sir..Fulmer won the East the season before he was fired!! He was the best coach we ever had and I'm no psychic but I bet these last 6 years would have been alot better with him still running sh#t..he didn't deserve how he was fired..151-52-1. How can you blame Fulmer for how bad we have become!? You say Jones will "restore UT to its rightful place" but who do you think had us there in the first place..have some respect bro!
