Where are all the people that said the coaching search would be different this time? That Tennessee is in a better place this time to get a top choice. Where are all the Grudenites who keep preaching he is coming here? JON GRUDEN IS NEVER COMING TO TN AND YOU ARE ONLY MAKING IT WORSE EVERY TIME YOU BRING HIM UP DURING A COACHING SEARCH.

The reality is Schiano was the 4th or 5th choice and Currie has been told no many times already. Mullen is a good coach and Florida actually beat us again.

Why would we want Mullen anyway? He said he loved Starkville, loved the University, loved the players etc....Then he bolts for another job in the same conference. Kiffin was a jerk but at least he left for a team in another league... Coaches have 0 loyalty and will cut & run in a heartbeat.

I think the story is schino has always been first pick. I doubt we will ever know. Currie should be fired.

You are correct and it is the Haslam factor that is ruining UT athletics. UT appreciates your donations but should be smart enough to not listen to you about sports.

I don't believe that many coaches told us no. We didn't really do anything bad this time, in fact, it was the national media leading the charge to get Jones fired.

So can't blame that on the fans.

We sat and waited patiently for Currie to make an announcement of a hire.

Again, can't blame the fans.

Then, word finally gets out a hire is about to be made and it's Greg F%&KING SCHIANO?

There is no way he wasn't the top choice, because everything we supposedly know doesn't add up. If he could've had Mullen the day after the Egg Bowl, he should've done it.

I find it hard to believe Matt Campbell told us now, Mike Norvell, Scott Frost maybe I can see that, but not the others.

This was an attempted coupe by Haslam and Currie, and everyone knows it.

You people that think Mullen isnt a good coach will find out just how good he is when we play UF next year. Wait and see what he does with 4-5* players.

Unless you hire a Phil Fulmer or Johnny Majors type, former beloved player at the university, then yes and even then the loyalty only extends so far (see Spurrier when the UF fans became unreasonable).

Not sure your facts are straight. It is looking like Schiano was the only pick. There is no evidence that we were going to offer anyone else.

He didn't say Mullen was a bad coach. He just said we shouldn't want someone that would bolt for a job in the same conference after saying how much he loved the job he had. Proud is simply saying that Kiffin didn't sugar coat it, he just got up and left and went all the way across the country.

What does Jon Gruden have to do with this? If we hired Mullen, Petersen, Patterson, Fischer, etc.. And threw a *****fit because it wasn't Gruden then fine complain about the pro-gruden crowd. But this goes wayyyyy beyond that. This centers on the ineptitude and pure corruption of this University by the Haslam family.

John Currie knew it would fall to Greg Schiano and was perfectly ok hiring him. Completely explains the lack of urgency throughout the entire progress. There wasn’t much competition from other schools for his service.

This isnt true.They targeted Schiano for two weeks he was the number one dude..off the discount rack,made only cursory contacts to anyone else and likely signed binding paperwork 2 weeks ago.

I think you are wrong. Schiano was the #1guy the whole time.

Gruden and Mullen were offered jobs to fake that UT tried.

I don't know if this was Curries idea or if he was told to go get Schiano, but I don't believe we were flat out turned down by other coaches. I think UT made insincere offers to a couple and that was it.

Agreed. Does that mean the Gruden Settle interview was him reaching out to us??????

I hope we get a post-mortem of this sh!teshow and find our what really went down.

Finebaum is wrong. AtlantaVol said it was Schiano from day one. And Atlantavol knows. It also further proves the incompetence of Currie and Davenport.
