I am really disappointed

I get all of that, but you can't just pretend that the Dooley situation happened in a vacuum. He may not be the guy, but pretending that he's the guy that solely drove it into the ground and another coaching change will fix things tomorrow is simpleton thinking and you know it.

if you don't understand this then you are a fool.

We have to give him one more year. The situation sucks all around, but, as of right now, we have a better team to put on the field this year. What is our coach going to do about it?

That is the ultimate consensus we should be waiting on.

Not what the OP is saying at all.

Nut up or shut up, kind of sounds like that to me since the point of a forum is discussion. Apparently people here only like to discuss with those who agree with them. God forbid someone be skeptical about the capability of Dooley to get it done. That doesn't mean I'm calling for his head this year, just means I'm skeptical.

No. Drive it one more year and pick up some more passengers and then make a decision at the end of 2012.

i was for this GAVOL till our coaching staff started skipping town, now i think it might be better for everybody if he leaves now. i do understand what you are saying though.

The passengers seem to be jumping off instead of on.
it's a tortured metaphor.
I'm talking about finally filling a roster with 85 decent players so at least the job is slightly attractive if they need to hire another guy.

It's obvious he's not fixing a damn thing. He's going to get 4 or 5 million dollars for trying. I don't blame Dooley for the shape it was in when he got here. I have no problem rebuilding.

When you look incompetent for 2 years it's the coach, not the situation the coach is in.

All in all, that is your opinion. Others will say he is not incompetent. Who is to say either are right?

One thing that is right, it takes time to rebuild. Dooley has done a heck of a job of bringing in some talent. Next year he gets his chance to see if he can win with his talent. If not, then we will see if another coach is called upon for the challenge. All the pissing and moaning now is just gonna raise your doctor bills, not get us a new coach.

it's called catharsis, count.

some people have to pay a lot of money to get someone to listen to it and ask them how they feel about it.

on VN one gets it for free.

until they get banned or ridiculed off.

The program should be on the rise. Is it?

Would it be on the rise if Justin Hunter doesn't go down against FLA and we win that game? If we pick up just a couple of games that Bray missed with his broken thumb and we finish with 3 more wins, is it on the rise?

Did Dooley tear Hunter's ACL? Did he break Bray's thumb. Wake up guys. You can't lay this season on Dooley yet.

If everyone is healthy next year, and we still only win 5 or 6, I'll agree that CDD's time is up.

You build Ball State from scratch (thanks Brady Hoke). You build Baylor from scratch (thanks Art Briles).

You do not build Tennessee from scratch. A coach here has a near unlimited recruiting budget and some of the nicest facilities in the country. You are slapping the history and tradition of this program in the face when you say "Dooley is building from nothing".

You're pissing on General Neyland, Carl Pickens, Condredge Holloway, Dale Jones, Dale Carter, Reggie White, Willie Gault, Eric Berry, Larry Seviers, Hank Lauricella, Johnny Majors, Doug Atkins and everyone else that's ever suited up for Tennessee.

Stop the excuses and admit that Dooley is in over his head.

How is saying he had to rebuild the roster spitting on our tradition?

The talent on the roster needed to be rebuilt, period. That's not an exaggeration, it's fact.

Whether you like Dooley or not

You have to admit that there were situations that were out of his control, including injuries, that caused us to miss everyones expectations by ONE game

Most everyone, myself and you included, expected a 6-6 season with the very most 7 wins, because of the situation

He lost his two best players on offense and only won one less game than most people expected

I just dont see the reason to panic

So, lay it out for us. If you were Hart, you'd fire Dooley today? After signing day? After the KY loss?

And you'd replace him with who? How would you hold this years recruiting class together? How would you hold our current roster together?

We are just curious about your line of thinking here.....or at least I am.

He would have been cleaning his office out the Monday after the UK game.

Charlie Strong would be the most realistic candidate.

One recruiting class isn't going to keep a coach employed. Look at how many guys have left and Tennessee doesn't have half of a staff.

By holding the roster together, do you mean keeping Arnett here?

What kind of stability does Dooley bring? Look at how many coaches have left/retired/fired. Hiestand is looking around too.

Couldn't agree more! :good!:

I'd be fine with Charlie Strong. Not a bad idea....if it happened the Monday after the KY game, not right now.

I can see this is a pointless debate. Let's be thankful you're not in charge. :hi:

Why do the players need to come before the coach?

Can't the new coach recruit the players... ala Kiffin's plan?

To beat Saban, we need a whole lot more of a coach than we have... and that includes recruiting. He's just reloading every year... we're can't close the talent gap without a coach who recruits feel can beat Saban.

We either ante up and buy our way out of this abyss or roll over. It seems we have plenty of fans who have simply rolled over.

That's funny.

Pissing yourself and not having any kind of gameplan other than "throw it Hunter" is kind of on the coaching staff.

That's what the knee-jerk, reactionary faction of our fanbase does. They don't know any better, so it's in their genetical makeup to try to make you afraid of it and tell you whom to blame for it, again without really having a clue. It's actually quite hilarious because no one of any significance gives the first dam as to what they think. Most fanbases have these types of fans. Here, it may a little worse due to some of the cultural biases developed at early ages

If you think that Bray and Hunter aren't a vital aspect of our offense, you're insane.

Again, pointless debating with you.
