Then I'll give you the same response I gave the goob that you are replying to.I agree with this 100 per cent!
A football game against a top 10 team is not a place to "sit and rest to watch the game."
I see "standing" and "no standing" sections in neyland stadium's future ..
Ah the old sit down and be quiet thread. It had been a while since we'd had one so the time was right. Nothing like a "young blood" vs. "blue hair" verbal joust. Funny thing though....I currently sit near one of the student sections and above the band area and as the third quarter was drawing down, I see this mass exodus of fans and 99% of 'em were young 'uns(most definitely under 30). With 3 minutes left in the 4th, I had nothing but 40+ in my section and within eye shot. All the kids had departed for parties and better times obviously. Guess they were all "yelled" out? Yeah...the problem with Neyland are the older fans. Uh huh.
Oh...and for the record, I've been attending UT games since the 60's and I've never...NEVER....witnessed anyone being told to sit down much less be quiet and this is my 4th section at Neyland. In my section, if the folks in front of you stand...you stand. If they sit, I sit. If something happens, I jump to my feet instinctively as do all the other fans. I've never felt the need to think about it or have anyone question it.....and yes I did spend two seasons on the west side with the so-called "blue hairs" before circumstances forced a move. This is all so....well...ridiculous. No offense intended to the OP.
Sorry, I already gave out the internet BS award for today. Try again tomorrow. Sit up straight young man, you're slouching.
I didn't take the time to read all the replies after the first page but I just have to give my opinion on this subject.
Me and my dad often go to concerts and sporting events together. I am one of the ones that complains when folks stand up BUT let me tell you why.......My dad isn't able to stand up for long periods of time due to rod/pins/screws in his legs and ankles. So it really irks me when we pay good money for seats and due to some people standing up he isn't able to see what's going on. I've checked into the handicapped seating but since he's not in a wheelchair he's not eligible for those seats. The person that started this thread needs to realize that yeah they have the right to stand up but they also should show respect to those around them.
Maybe the couple complaining had health issues that doesn't allow them to stand. If you give respect then you get respect back. I'm just curious if the thread starter and his friend were drinking....maybe that's why they were treated the way they were. drinking/drunk=beligirent(sp?) behaviour.
I do complain and I've been cussed at but I don't care....I admit I stand up from time to time if the folks around me do too(touchdown, etc...) but then I sit right back down as I know what it's like not to be able to see.
I personally would LOVE it if there was a standing/no standing section at a football game/concert.
What about the disrespect you showed the middle aged couple that wanted to sit down to where they could rest and watch the game? See, it works both ways.k:
You talk as if standing makes u a better fan,u are obviously one of the halfa$$ fans who r usally gone haxperiancelfway through the third quarter. My old azz was a fan while u were fillin your diaper.I have peripheral neropothy in my legs due to an on the job accident.I cant stand for a length of time. I still have the right to see the game as much as u.The game experiance is different at home. Many of us have been contributing to this program longer than u.:moon2::moon2:
