I like him too but I think TX got him....he could be groomed for a HC job somewhere.

Long as we don't lose Brooks we'll be fine losing any of our current defense staff. Slade, Chavis & Caldwell are re-placeable.

Exactly, he's one of the "young-up and coming" coaches that will get a HC job somewhere soon. His name came up for some this year.​

Caldwell recruits well and is not replaceable in an easy way. We do not want to lose him.

Just to add to the rumor mill that has been furiously churning for the last 3 weeks:

If it is Slade that is not coming back, who do we replace him with? How do you feel about Tim Walton?

I'd still rather have Walton. He has UT ties to boot. He'd definitely be one of the first calls CPF makes if Slade is gone.

As for Slade, he is making the trip to Cali for the coaches convention. Caldwell, CPF, and Adkins are staying. Brooks, Chief, and Slade are going. There is nothing to read into about this situation, though. He could just be going to represent our staff, or he could be going to look for a job.

Or to add another possible scenario, Caldwell could be retiring and Brooks, Chief, and Slade have been sent to find a replacement for him. After all, they would be the ones working with the new hire.

And I'm interested to know why CPF is not going. Surely he hasn't found the new OC already?

so once again Fulmer has changed his mind about going? Yesterday it was reported he will be attending. When did it change again?

Rumor is that he has an interview on Sunday. No word on who the candidate is or for what position.

Doubtful that Caldwell is retiring.

Slade is going to the coaching convention in California, and he's not a speaker at the convention. The other D coaches (besides Chavis) are in Sevier Co. Assume what you want.

Just off the top of my head, I would say he was going out to interview for the OC position, but has found his guy, so their is no need now. Ciggy ball could be around the corner. And also agree with HV on Walton being a great get if Slade leaves.

what i read was he was going to Cali to the convention for the Sunday interview. is this not the case?

Edit: to answer iceman's statement, the piece also said it seemed as if the Cali interview was for one of the other positions that need to be filled. However, I've also read Fulmer is probably not going to fill in the other spots until an OC is found. I'll let your mind wander from there.

Actually, yeah, now Hubbs says Chavis, Brooks, and Slade are going, with the former 2 speaking.

Fulmer is now rumored not to be going.

I would read anything into the Slade situation, though we should know by Sunday is he is in or out.

As I stated earlier, Chavis, Brooks, and Slade going. CPF, Caldwell, and Adkins staying. Interview rumored for Sunday.

He said like 2 days ago that CPF is going to the convention. You are believing him one way or the other.

He also gave the heads up about the interviews CPF gave in Tampa. Noone has been very accurate about this situation, but he has given out more correct info than anyone else.
