I am absolutely sick

There's plenty of blame to go around.

Bottom line: when you lose that game, with that lead, in that stadium...you deserve the criticism.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

Criticism? Yes. Sky falling? No. We lost to a team that might go 10-2, make playoffs (Herbie thinks so), win conference, etc.

Good grief the best minds in the sport, Vegas, said we would lose and it took 2 OTs.

Bowling Green crushed MD on the road.

We are a good team teetering on great. I pray this is the brink and the motivation needed to get over it.

I'll make a bold statement, OU will not be in the playoffs. We gave them that game, and we'll be lucky to win 8 with SEC East being down. Maybe you have forgotten but Stoops is also chokes. K State seems to own him, even when they have less talent as of late.

Amen brother Im so sick of hearing Butch's positive coach speak BS. we are recruiting, hype this hype that, checker neyland, new uniforms, we are changing culture, takes time, takes time, take time, bs bs bs bs bs . Shut up do something Butch! win a meaningful game!!!!! this was disgusting. no excuse for losing this game! pathetic! no in game adjustments on offense at all. butch got his A$$ outcoached by bob stoops big time! shut up and show us butch. we have the talent now tonight proved that! Hurd is a freaking stud! you have a 242lb rb and don't run it up the gut on 4th and inches. so sick of this conservative sissy sit on my lead and coach not to lose $H!T

I really hate to be negative about our Vols, but the truth hurts. Were finally catching up with the others schools as far as talent goes, and the first big time game we play in we go right back to where we was last season against Florida. I completely understand when we were losing because the talent level, but we were head and shoulders better than OU last night, and it showed early on till we got the lead. Then Butch almost looked gun shy like he was coaching not to lose instead of coaching to win. This is one of the most aggravating games I've ever watched. It just seem to me if Butch would have just stayed aggressive in the play calling we would have easily won the game. What's it going to take?

I had a bad feeling about how Butch and staff was going to call this game, when we settled for 3 instead of using one of our 5 star RBs to gain a couple inches. After watching the Florida loss last season & now this one, its really got me concered about Butch and his in game coaching and adjustments. How in the world we lost this game is mind boggling. Anyone who is familier with TN football knew and could see this loss coming tonight. I knew it in my heart when it came down to crunch time OU would start scoring and put this game away. Its like watching a damn rerun every season. We screwed around all night long like we did last season in the Florida game, and got down right embarrsed! Its really pathetic that we let average teams come inside of Neyland Stadium and make us look like a high school team. I don't know how were ever going to get some of these so called bigger wins. Every season starts with a hope and confidence until we do what we've got none for, LOSING! I can't wait to hear the Bull crap coach talk from Butch tomorrow, talking about how young we are, and how we need to learn how to win again. What a joke!! Butch showed his FB in game IQ tonight. The jury was still out if he could coach or not, and I think he more than answered the question! It was hard watching our Vols choke away another home game on national TV!!

What a bunch of babies. Some of you don't deserve a good team. Go cheer for F' n Bama like the rest of the fair weather mullets. My blood runs orange. It did when Johnny Majors was mediocre and when he won. It did with Condredge and Jimmy. It was gushing with Peyton. I have watched us lose much bigger games on bigger stages by wider margins. The 1998 season was a beautiful dream built on winning a few games we should have lost. Kiffin's FU departure and the fiasco that was Dooley brought this program to new lows where we were competing with Ball State and East Carolina for 2 star recruits. This has been and will be a slow process for which we are ahead of schedule. Enough of this whiny I am not going to watch anymore crap. Go VOLS

Watching the replay right now. Since I was at the game when the Vols scored with 12:14 in the 2nd quarter.I didn't realize the Vols went 42 mins and no points in till OT.

I agree. Last night was disappointing, but not nearly as much as the board meltdown. We are knocking on the door. We have to get a freshmen and sophomore laden team to kick it in

I had to listen to last night's Vols/OK game on the Vol Radio Network, and I was somewhat surprised at some of the comments the announcers were making in the 4th quarter. Something like, "Coach Jones needs to quit yelling at the refs about a play that happened 5 minutes ago. He needs to be spending time figuring how to stop Oklahoma."

News Flash... Oklahoma was ranked ahead of us for a reason and picked to win. We act like we are supposed to go undefeated this year or something. Let's focus on winning SEC East games which are the ones that really matter this year.

The "fair weather" fan BS is beyond old. Just because people are voicing their heated opinions about our coaches' in-game skills, doesn't make you a fair weather fan. It means they aren't sheep, that wander around aimlessly, bleeting PROCESS, BRICK BY BRICK, YOUTH, 22 FRESHMAN, etc.

Whether Herbstreit or not ANYBODY else predicted us to beat OU is completely irrelevant. WE HAD THEM!!! The fact is, our boys left it all on the field. We coached not to lose and did just that. Butch and staff are not above the MUCH deserved criticism. Primarily on offense. Voicing disgust, doesn't mean we love the Vols any less.

Oklahoma will win more than 6 or 7 games. So will Tennessee. Both teams have some deficiencies on the offense, maybe. UT played great on D, but so did OU. I, am admittedly an actual trolling OU fan. I don't post much on these things and with all due respect, most of you guy's reasons for losing, are disrespectful to both teams.

Tennessee did not "give this game away". OU, with 8 minutes left, took the momentum with brute force and played like they were capable when it counted. Your D got warn down a little. We OU fans, including me, (just speculating) were calling for Riley's head during the game. This was just two well above average teams duking it out, but someone had to lose. With all due respect, OU made a couple of unforced mistakes that aided in UT's scoring and kept OU in rotten field position, but that's just part of the game.

Just my opinion, so you may take it FWIW, but I really believe both teams will be just fine this year. As it is also my opinion that each team caused much of each others deficiencies.

It was a helluva game. In the SEC, UT is my favorite team. My mother is from Jefferson City so it's in my blood.

Quit freaking out and just try and give credit where credit is due. I have much respect for your team and coaches and you guys are pretty danged good, if you ask me. Don't pull the trigger yet.

Respectfully,
The Savage

Sorry Savage but if some of the unforced mistakes were called in the fourth quarter and OT. The ending would've been different. 3 false starts. 2 of which yall scored. Bogus PI on us that was a few feet from the ball going into the stands. Yes it hit your guy who was already up against the bleacher wall. But if UT coaches would've adjusted this argument would not be happening. Congrats on the win. Good day.

Whoever said this game would be "on the fans" is full of ****. Coaches stunk the place up.
Yeah, that was VolForLyfe (or Vol4Lyfe, whichever). I had to put that thread on ignore because he got extremely butthurt at my suggestion that the premise was ridiculous. By his own logic, the result of the game must mean that he and the rest of the fans didn't do their part.

As I said, ridiculous.

This is ****ing stupid. Staff gave it away. Sat at over 400 football games if you need to see the ticket stubs.
Sincerely,
A fan of Tennessee football longer than Butch Jones has been alive.

Should have been in the stands, sitting beside the OK fans. That was hard.

This is disappointing. This is on the coaches. And especially on DeBord.

I've been a fan since my first game in 1972. I have seen my share of disappointment and I have been there through the worst and the best. I have seen games lost and games won, but I have never seen a game like this simply given away like this one was tonight.

You must've not watched any Dooley games then. I can think of several that were way worse than this.

Two gamblers.
Stoops gambled he could cover 3 WRs with 2 DBs.
Debord gambled he couldn't.
Stuffed the run and pressured Dobbs entire 2nd half.
Debord lost. I'd expect major changes to the strategy this week and forward.

We'll see.

Continuity is the reason we have welcomed Coach Mike Debord to Knoxville. There is no Plan B. That showed for three quarters on Saturday.

You bet Florida's defense will be watching the film.

There are no excuses though - Butch cannot lose to Florida. It's a must win game.

I'm absolutely done.

Call me a fair weather fan or whatever. Tennessee has not won a true game of significance since 2007 Georgia but since then they have lost game after game in what I would call mindboggling fashion. Time and time again. That's been eight seasons of this trash and I'm sick of it.

Oklahoma is a very mediocre team that will probably lose 6 to 7 games this year. Stoops best days are so far in the rear view mirror no one can remember when they were. Yet they were still able to come back on Tennessee after 17 points down and Tennessee leading 17-3 to start the 4th quarter, at Neyland Stadium of all places.

I'm really done for now. Start winning a game of significance every now and then, maybe it will be worth watching, but for now, yet again, I feel cheated out of four hours of my life.

You may want to consider the fact this team was and is HIGHLY over rated. Happens most every off season until reality happens. Look at the posts here where people are predicting a 9 and 10 win season (or more) this year. It's laughable. With the same OL we had last year, the inability for Dobbs to be an accurate passer that can pump the ball 20-30 yards downfield on a rope when necessary, and the under achieving WR corps that never gets sepeation makes this another .500 football team. Enjoy the year for that and stop thinking SEC Champion in 2015.
