Hypothetically, if not CJH, then who?

SIGH!!! The problem is less Josh than it is the defense. His DC never did fix the secondary, and yesterday the problem was compounded by the utter lack of discipline of the defense as a whole. So intent on hitting Diego, they didn't stay in their containment lanes, and he made them pay. River otter - European conger, I told ya. So he just slipped by them again and again. Until Josh gets a DC who gets rid of Martinez for someone who knows how to teach/coach DBs, and can himself hammer discipline play into the rest of the defense, CJH teams will just middle SEC teams. But do the arrogant toddler whining fans understand that? Probably not.

While I agree with the need for a competent DC, we can't ignore the fact that this is Heupel's staff and roster. This whole enchilada is what Heupel cooked up and it's a reflection of him.

I’m as pissed as the next guy, frankly this was
the worst of the 4 defeats we had this year. It’s bad to loose anytime, but to loose 3 at home this year?

Objectively, if CJH falls on his ass next year. I’m talking 3-4-5 wins, if a change is made, who is out there who would be interested? Are there any coaches who played at UT during the glory days who would be motivated by love of VFL and not just dollars? Frankly I don’t know of any.

Dan Mullen is another 10-11 season away at UNLV from getting back into the SEC / Big 10 type jobs next cycle.

South Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi State will likely having openings

I'm sure there will be other Big 10 / 12 schools that do as well

Mullen has clearly made the case he still has it and will always be a competent offensive mind. The more and more we get away from his days at Florida, the more I think they were the problem his final season and not him being stubborn or a bad coach.

For sure, However, I think he just need to be cured of his Fulmeritis so he hires better cooks for his kitchen.

How was Banks supposed to fix McCoy and Gipson getting hurt and only getting to play a combined 1/2 game in a 12 game schedule?

This isn't the year for a coaching search. He's not even in danger at this point. He has earned the right to make changes. I hope he pulls it together but there needs to be changes.

Who? We are not smart enough to figure that one out, thats why we have an AD. Its his job to figure that out. There is no shortage of coaches out there. There is a shortage of big name coaches but that is always the case because those don't require much investigation. Vanderbilt found one.

The problem began 2 years earlier when the entire defensive secondary hit the portal at the same time, why was that? Yes we lost 2 starters and had no backups. Does the defensive staff not know you need competent backups? The portal was open 4 or 5 times since they all left the program.

Those two getting hurt shouldn't be the difference between a good defense and the worst effing defense in the league....and they aren't. Corner play, while redmond has been picked on some, hasn't been the Achilles heel of the team this year. Redmond wasn't the reason we lost to Vanderbilt. Redmond played lights out with an int and a fumble recovery that was so good it looked like a penalty at first. Bad scheme that let them run all over us is what did that and that starts with Tim Banks.

Good grief guy. How much time does one need? We’re in Year 5 ffs, wake up to reality.
Still on probation with limits to recruiting and injuries to key NFL draft prospects at key positions. We couldn’t even have unofficial visitors at some games this year. Some of you deserve a Pruitt or Jones coach again. He needs to make changes regardless with Banks. See if he does and see what happens next year. Vandy has 40 seniors graduating and we have the youngest team. It was like a mid major in basketball with a senior laden team beating a team of 5 star freshman.

Don't think so. He is who he is and the schedule gets real next year. I have zero faith in our evals, development and coaching staff.

I can easily see a 5-7, 6-6 record next year and that will certainly impact recruiting. Watch for a couple of defections in this years class and some major movement in 27. Bloom is off the rose.
Never been on the rose for you.
