You guys willing to suffer thru next year to maybe get the right guy here with a hire done at the present?
I doubt you guys are that long term minded. I might be wrong but I bet you want next year to be successful.
Before you tell me next year will be a success with another coach, I just argue why it won't be.

Don't know about Thompson, zjc. There's literally no information out there right now suggesting that. The only thing that there has been is rumors that he's a candidate.
Know someone who works in their AD (the only person I know that works in the AD, seriously, is UAB. What a waste lol). They are going to target Thompson as their first choice and he is pretty sure they'll get him. Obviously, we'll see, but I think Thompson is ready for a head coaching job.

Great! Sign Dooley to an extension, maybe he can get 3 JUCOs a year with a 50/50 shot of panning out
With next season's schedule, 5 wins are given if a monkey coached the team. A half assed coach should win 6 or 7.
Dooley is more than likely going to have to replace the majority of his staff.
What's the difference between a new OC, DC and several assistants with Dooley or a whole new crew?
The roster is better in terms of raw talent but is still young and very thin which in the viewed in total I would say makes it marginally better. This roster desperately needs a strong finish to this class to get it to solid mid-tier SEC talent and another strong class to nudge into the lower top area.
Almost everyone pontificating on demanding wins and firing coaches have no apparent appreciation for how far down this program has sunk and the effort it takes to get it back. The top tier programs have Juniors and Seniors coming off the bench, we have true Freshman.
I started this thread by saying that if Laws hypothetical happened it would be a hard decision. I can see both sides of that for sure. If we are still talking about the wholesale changes in the staff then my stance is weakened significantly because the recruiting would almost certainly be effected. Now if JW and PS(all others are very replaceable IMO) are on staff next year this team may very well win 8-10 games. No incoming HC offers that hope for me. Not even close

Those would improve attendance initially but not in the long term. Only way to get back to all sell outs is top 5 and then I question if late season non-conference games would be sold out. Guys look at games all over the country. USCe vs gators and there were tons of empties. That game had championship implications. This isn't 1995 get used to it.

As I have stated no new HC would give me any hope of 8-10 games next year. You guys have you opinions and I respect that.
