Hypothetical Situation...

The one that got caught was pretty slimy too.

Yea I know......Just hate to admit it, but is what it is....Really thought he was genuine until he hung his drawers out.....Should have interview his wife first....

Did you see Gus Malzahn's wife interview.....hilarious....

You guys willing to suffer thru next year to maybe get the right guy here with a hire done at the present?

I doubt you guys are that long term minded. I might be wrong but I bet you want next year to be successful.

Before you tell me next year will be a success with another coach, I just argue why it won't be.

If I wanted eight win seasons, I would rather have kept the coach that one a NC here.

With next season's schedule, 5 wins are given if a monkey coached the team. A half assed coach should win 6 or 7.

Dooley is more than likely going to have to replace the majority of his staff.

What's the difference between a new OC, DC and several assistants with Dooley or a whole new crew?

Don't know about Thompson, zjc. There's literally no information out there right now suggesting that. The only thing that there has been is rumors that he's a candidate.

Know someone who works in their AD (the only person I know that works in the AD, seriously, is UAB. What a waste lol). They are going to target Thompson as their first choice and he is pretty sure they'll get him. Obviously, we'll see, but I think Thompson is ready for a head coaching job.

I still think Dooley is here for 2 years regardless....but I also believe we will have better options available after next season for Potential Coaches....I know Hart will be a good AD in finding the right fit for UT......I don't think he is ready to pull the trigger and is making a calculated decision because he is aware as to how important it is to Tennessee Football and how it gets on track....It will NOT be done in desperation but will be calculated.

Good info, man. I wish Coach Thompson the best of luck. He deserves it if he can get the job.

Tell them to send Calloway here to coach the OL

Great! Sign Dooley to an extension, maybe he can get 3 JUCOs a year with a 50/50 shot of panning out

We managed to do it with CPF why not Dooley.....Different AD that is why.....No it could be done next year but not this one.....I don't see a coach recruitting without 4 years intact on a contract...

I started this thread by saying that if Laws hypothetical happened it would be a hard decision. I can see both sides of that for sure. If we are still talking about the wholesale changes in the staff then my stance is weakened significantly because the recruiting would almost certainly be effected. Now if JW and PS(all others are very replaceable IMO) are on staff next year this team may very well win 8-10 games. No incoming HC offers that hope for me. Not even close

I have a better hypothetical.

Would you promote Wilcox and keep all staff but Chaney and Dooley if failing to do so meant losing all but those 2?

The roster is better in terms of raw talent but is still young and very thin which in the viewed in total I would say makes it marginally better. This roster desperately needs a strong finish to this class to get it to solid mid-tier SEC talent and another strong class to nudge into the lower top area.

Almost everyone pontificating on demanding wins and firing coaches have no apparent appreciation for how far down this program has sunk and the effort it takes to get it back. The top tier programs have Juniors and Seniors coming off the bench, we have true Freshman.

That is exactly why IF a change is made it needs to be done sooner than later to give the new guy time to recruit and I agree with you to an extent that Juniors and Seniors are needed but most of the kids on this team have played in 25 games in the last 2 years with little to no improvement. That playing time and expeirence paired with good coaching would be exciting to watch.

Only Derek Dooley wins 8-10 games with next year's roster?

Hahaha

I wouldn't just name Wilcox permanent head coach. Absolutely not. Maybe name him interim.

Those would improve attendance initially but not in the long term. Only way to get back to all sell outs is top 5 and then I question if late season non-conference games would be sold out. Guys look at games all over the country. USCe vs gators and there were tons of empties. That game had championship implications. This isn't 1995 get used to it.

dooleys first game was not a sellout. either of those guys would not sellout first game. Florida? Maybe but I doubr it.. could be quite a while before the next sellout unless its Bama fans next October

As I have stated no new HC would give me any hope of 8-10 games next year. You guys have you opinions and I respect that.

Does Dooley actually give you hope of ten wins? We're likely going to have a staff half full of scrubs next year. No good coach is going to jump on this ship.

Well no other coach would be able to secure the JUCO3.

A new coach wouldn't have time to secure them. They sign Dec 21st and are EE's. I love how you seem to think a few juco guys can't make a difference. Need a history lesson last is only one year old????
