Hypothetical Situation...

By simply being here?

I fail to see how that works.

To be specific defensively we have a chance to be very good with the addition of the 3 juco Dlineman that look very likely as long as DD is the HC. If we lost those 3 we would be left VERY thin on the DL. For that reason alone keeping DD is very important for the short term. The rest of the class is shaping up nicely as well. Also less turnover with the current kids if DD stays. Is that specific enough for you?

I have serious doubts if DD is the long term guy but short term he needs to stay if we are going to win next year.

Agree, and it's pocket change to the money raised by the football team and its boosters.

The football team starts slipping even more than it is now, there will be no money for sports that lose money for the AD.

Then the rational thing to do is to throw more money at it......NO it is not...because it is just what you stated it is a gamble....if you cannot get a proven coach in here to fill the void then you have set us back

I don't know that there is one out there that would come to coach at this moment....

Strong and Sumlin have been mentioned of which are not the proven coaches that I am talking about...We are going to have to have somebody that can coach in the SEC. Not a fly by night coach...

we are working with a ton of varibles here and assuming 3+ coaches are gone....another expenditure to get the quality in here....

I would like to see what happens to these three and others before I do an overhaul.....and spend the money.

So no coach could salvage the recruiting class?

And what do you lose in turnover on a team that has went 11-14 and has four (four) SEC wins in two years?

I'm almost 100% sure Thompson is going to take the UAB job.

I'm almost 100% Hiestand will be fired.

That's two coaches. If Petersen takes the UCLA job (not sure how high that possibility is), I'm pretty damn confident Wilcox will leave as DC for UCLA OR HC for Boise State. Sirmon will probably going with him.

That's four coaches right there. Not too mention the rumors about Baggett.

Don't know about Thompson, zjc. There's literally no information out there right now suggesting that. The only thing that there has been is rumors that he's a candidate.

You think the replacement will not be in place if they fire DD?

Strong didn't coach at UF or South Carolina. Oh wait.....

Its been said that if the right situation were to come along(Petersen to UCLA or DC for Oregon)that Wilcox would most certainly leave and Sirmon would be right there on the plane with him. I honestly feel like this staff is on the verge of falling apart, and there's not much Dooley can do about it. Hart is keeping awfully quiet about the status of Dooley. He knows something we dont imo.

Is a recruiting class worth keeping a coach you have no confidence in? If we lose multiple coaches, good luck hiring solid replacements.

UT is a top 15 job, we're not some program that should feel lucky with eight wins.

It's a very very good possibility. He wants more money and his time to be a HC is waning. He's done about all he can do in his career other than be a HC.

I'm not just throwing stuff up and hoping it sticks.

You've confused Kiffin with the former basketball coach.

I wasn't going to get into the basketball coach in the football forum....LOL.....but yes they both lied....and pushed it beyond the boundaries even after being warned against it.

I mixed on the Cam Newton thing....but there is a fire there somewhere....but not worth pursuing.....because he was the real deal.....

I mean, I don't doubt he'll take the job if offered; the question is if he's going to be offered. Also, the previous UAB coach made $350,000, and Lance currently makes $400,000.

More of that was directed at Sumlin.....I am not sold on him....I am just not sure about Strong as a HC and then the next question is would he take the job if offered....

Sure its possible but those 3 juco DL would almost certainly not be apart of it. Without immediate help in that area I can't see our Def being worthy of winning more than 6 games next year. We have to get help there and a coach hired at the earliest 2 weeks from now couldn't get those 3(they sign Dec 21) IMO.

Not a fan of basing the coaching future of this program on three JUCO players.

would anybody ever consider chavis as HC......or is he just what I think I know.....

I disagree this is a much better time to hire a coach and the roster is in better shape.

The roster is better in terms of raw talent but is still young and very thin which in the viewed in total I would say makes it marginally better. This roster desperately needs a strong finish to this class to get it to solid mid-tier SEC talent and another strong class to nudge into the lower top area.

Almost everyone pontificating on demanding wins and firing coaches have no apparent appreciation for how far down this program has sunk and the effort it takes to get it back. The top tier programs have Juniors and Seniors coming off the bench, we have true Freshman.

Could you imagine if the future of Tennessee was based on Couch, Lanier and Moore?

But Dooley just needs another year.
You guys willing to suffer thru next year to maybe get the right guy here with a hire done at the present?

I doubt you guys are that long term minded. I might be wrong but I bet you want next year to be successful.

Before you tell me next year will be a success with another coach, I just stated why it won't be.
