The biggest Heisman heist was Wooden winning over Manning, totally fueled by media who wanted to see that. Also, Hornung winning in 1956 was a total joke as well. I really don't like popularity contests and those that vote for their regional boys. Makes the validity (to me) kind of a sham. It's the kind of popularity contest that is MLB's All-Star game.
I'm sure it was close but the differences in the Conference championship performances probably determined the outcome in most voter's minds. Tua did not look good and was hampered by the injury. Both were deserving.Tua losing is further confirmation that the Heisman is a pointless rigged publicity stunt for anti southern journalists.
Tommy McDonald was dang good too. Strong argument for being #1 even over Brown. Based on stats at leastI understand being bitter about Peyton. That makes sense whether one agrees with who got the Heisman that year or not.
Majors and Shuler? Stop, Just stop.
Jim Brown should have won in 56. He's the one with a beef. And one can't even begin to make an argument for Shuler over Charlie Ward before being told to have a coke and a smile and to shut the hell up.
Tua played like crap in the SEC Championship, some of that was injury but a lot of that was Georgia's defense and the fact that he was under real pressure to score for the first time all year. Kyler on the other hand played lights out all year in multiple close games. Kyler deserved it IMO.Tua losing is further confirmation that the Heisman is a pointless rigged publicity stunt for anti southern journalists.

I agree, he's good, last year in the National Championship game though he had the element of surprise in that Georgia had spent all it's time preparing for Hurts. LSU and Miss State could do similar things defensively to what Georgia did but they couldn't score on Alabama, Georgia could, so this is the only time all year he's really been in a high pressure situation having to keep pace and he didn't handle it well. Tua is a great player, he may win the Heisman next year, but you shouldn't win the Heisman after playing in two close games your whole career, one where you had the element of surprise and one where you looked very ordinary. It didn't help him that Fromm totally outplayed him that game either, that boy was dropping dimes, it was raising my hope that Fields was going to transfer out.And just pressure in general. I honestly don't think we know how good Tua actually is yet. He's had ALL DAY to throw this year. UGA really is the first team that could provide pressure up the middle and still play close enough in the secondary that the windows were relatively narrow. He's good- but I think there are several QBs that could look pretty solid in his position.
Based on pro careers, I will say Peyton was robbed.
Based on pro careers, did Majors even play in the NFL? Hornung was a 1 man team in college playing offense and defense. In addition to leading his team in most offensive categories, he also led in punt returns, punting, and on defense he was 2nd on interceptions and tackles.
You could also say Majors was just a product of the system (like some of you are saying about Oklahoma). Tennessee was the last team in the SEC still playing the single wing.
I guess most telling for me would be how they are drafted by the NFL but that’s just me.

LSU and MSU both brought quite a bit of pressure and Tua was okay. The problem against UGA was that he got hurt on the first possession and couldn't move around the pocket. The pressure affected him more because he basically had to play in a phone booth.
On top of that, Bama's receivers had 5 drops in the SECCG, 2 of which would have been TDs. In a competition where stats are king, those drops were killers.

May be wrong, but I think the last 5 are starting tomorrow
