Scout.com: Can UT class provide immediate help?
Pay content so I'll synopsize. Hyams says there are only two incidences of a signing class helping win a National C-ship in their first year, 1980 UGA class only because of Hershel Walker and the 2006 Florida class due mainly to Harvin and Tebow. He points out that Fulmer has had two #1 classes, 1994 when the Vols went 8-4 and 2005 when UT went 5-6. Guys that Jimmy thinks could help right away are, in no particular order:
Eric Berry
DeAngelo Willingham
Nevin McKenzie
Brent Vinson
Ahmad Paige
Gerald Williams
Kenny O'Neal
Lennon Creer
Kevin Cooper at FB
Donald Langley
Ben Martin
Rolando Melancon
William Brimfield
Chris Donald
Jimmy goes on to state something that I agree with 100%, which is given the recruiting classes that other SEC schools are bringing in, the 2007 UT class will keep UT on par with most conference foes talentwise but it will not allow UT to "out-talent" its way to an SEC C-ship. Hyams goes on to say that UT will have to have good coaching and a few breaks to win the SEC at this point.
