Hurricane Irma

2am update seems relatively good - westward shift - which means Cuba running interference and causing the storm to weaken

It's the best scenario to avoid mass destruction, but worst for my neck of the woods.

Yeah, probably not the best choice for the 7th Inning Stretch.

It probably wasn't the best song the Atlanta Braves could have played over the public address system Thursday night during their home game against the Miami Marlins.

“Rock You Like a Hurricane,” a 1984 hit for the Scorpions, may have struck fans at SunTrust Park as a little insensitive, given that the Marlins' home city was preparing to deal with Hurricane Irma.

Anyone in the Tampa/St Pete area? Curious how the roads North are looking, HWY 19 in particular? Some family down there been waffling about leaving planning to leave around noon today.

I'm surprised they haven't turned southbound lanes into northbound on the interstates yet.

Or have they? Haven't seen it reported.

Haven't heard that but I was told last big hurricane they made all lanes of I4 from Tampa and Orlando head inland only. Likely do that again.

I'm right between those cities and we are an evacuation spot because of elevation. Still have lots of co-workers in the office today from both Tampa and Orlando. They're staying put

Governor says southbound lanes are still needed to get fuel to those people trying to get out.

People are keeping a pretty good sense of humor about this.

Posted on Facebook, hopefully it's legit!

FORWARD SO IT GETS TO FLORIDA:. I have 2 apartments in HARLAN COUNTY, KY that can be used FREE OF CHARGE for people escaping Irma. Yes, you can bring your pets. I need a 24 hr notice to turn on the utilities. 606-273-4508. I have invited Jerry Lee and his beautiful family to take the larger of the 2 but he's not sure at this point... If you're headed this far North, call me. praying for Florida and safety for all - including the pets

I know Pinellas and Pasco County west of US19 have been asked to evacuate. 19 will be very crowded. If it was me, I'd use US41 north to at least Brooksville.

I wonder if Boyd and the Crowders are letting people stay at their place too?

Just joking obviously, it's a very nice gesture. Trying to bring a little humor to a terrible situation.

Yeah, they say they're taking 19 to avoid traffic but the traffic cams I looked at showed the interstates not looking too bad which made me wonder if they were current. They have to hit 75 and some point, I'd probably go ahead and take the interstate myself but you can't tell them anything. Not sure if they've left yet or not. Some have said they aren't leaving. Glad I don't live down there anymore right now.
