Hurricane Irma

you think it will reach over to Destin?

I was planning to go down this weekend but bailed due to work load. We have a place in Miramar Beach

It's not supposed to. I hope it doesn't. I'm flying there Saturday evening. Going to hang out for a couple of days there then drive on to Disney. Yep, I'm one of those crazy Disney freaks. 😳

I don't know if Disney will be the happiest place on Earth for a while.

So let me see if I understand....I had a vacation planned for Puerto Rico. Myrtle Beach to Ft. Laud, Ft. Laud to San Juan. San Juan gets whipped. Ft. Laud is about to get whipped. I assume Myrtle Beach will get whipped. I say, ok, that's cool. We'll go to Knoxville for a few days to avoid the storm...

And now you're telling me the HURRICANE is coming to KNOXVILLE........

The universe is trying to take me out.

Las Vegas is always an option.

Expecting at least some 30-40mph wind gusts and maybe some rain. If it keeps shifting west, it will only get worse. So basically a minor rain/wind event considering the options.

My family was headed to Disney on Monday as well. Watch closely!! If it landfalls and treks over Orlando, you can count Disney out for a few weeks. Not that they will not be open, but Orlando could be a mess and power outages will be major.

If it goes up the center, I agree. If it skirts the east coast, it should be fine for the most part.

All depends, the hurricane force winds are 60+ miles out from the center and Orlando is 66 miles from the beach.

Funny you should say that. Vegas was on the table when we were still looking to "vacation". Now, we're "evacuating", meaning we have to bring the baby and the chihuahua. I can't leave them at my parents knowing there could be a hurricane. So, dog friendly Knoxville is where we're heading. And apparently, Irma will be riding shotgun.

Hardly anyone heading towards the pan handle. Everyone is going to Atlanta or Columbia.

We're going down to Destin on the 14th provided it's still there after Jose.
Current predictions have the tropical storm wind speeds in Destin reaching no higher than 35-40mph in relation to Irma. That won't do anything to buildings but you might not be able to go in the water. Have to keep an eye on flags.

2am update seems relatively good - westward shift - which means Cuba running interference and causing the storm to weaken

projections just keep moving west. I'm not holding my breath.
