"Hunter has told people it's a torn ACL, so that's probably the case. Docs usually know before the MRIs these days."

To make it official (per Rucker, official)

He absolutely tore his ACL, any physician could tell how loose it is by examining it and probably told him and the coaches it was torn.

Hunter will be missed no doubt...but our passing game will be fine our problem is our lazy oline blocking..thats where I am most concerned

If it ends up being true, this is among the worst things that could happen this season...at least we have a few weeks to get right before the dawgs at home. Terrible feeling of here we go again. GBO.

If they thought that, why would they have let him do so much walking on it after he left the field (on sideline, to locker-room, out of locker-room, on sideline again...)?

this might not be the best time to ask this but if he is out for the rest of the season will he receive a medical redshirt

It couldn't be determined physically until they took him to the locker room most likely. He came out of the locker room on crutches and out of pads

Esp. with a young athlete. Any movement at all is a dead giveaway. I have seen some pts. that did have movement and it wasnt a tear but they were not athletes. You can make a acl diagnosis 95-99% of the time with just physical exam findings, but you have to do a MRI to make it "official"

I don't know how much this will change things , but I was looking at him as a junior this year. If he comes back strong , he bolts after next season. JMO

Actually, when he 1st came out, he still had on pads, just no helmet.

Also, somebody earlier said that with the kind of ligament injury they are talking about now, that a good trainer could tell fairly quickly.. That's why I'm confused.

Okay, that's why I'm confused on this specific thing. The 'generally confused' part I blame on God.

I had a buddy who tore his ACL twice in two years and the second time he continued the season because the doctor told him there wasnt anything he could do to make it worse at that point.. (He was a TE) .. So he could man up and play as a decoy maybe to take pressure off of Da'Rick and get surgery at the end of the season.

No chance a kid with NFL and Olympic possibilities would do that
