How is he more complete? Hunter is a top 10 pick when healthy. Rogers will be extremely lucky to go in the first round.
Why didn't Rogers benefit from it?
On what planet does Rogers not go in the first round? How much money did you lose betting dez bryant wouldn't go in the 1st? Its already been stated how dr is more complete, but ill briefly recap. Dr can be physical, go across the middle, make the tough catches. Above average hands, fast enough to be a deep threat although its not his forte, threat on end arounds and in return game. As I've said, I think focus is his major problem on the field. Jhunt has not proven he can be physical, I haven't seen him do much across the middle except wide open slants. He is a tremendous deep threat and imo has a great command of his job as a receiver, as well as leadership qualities and intangibles. I believe he can be better than dr, and if he can come back from his acl surgery he will be. I mean really guys, im just talking here and now. Im just happy we have these guys and can have this argument.
Rogers is a different kind of receiver. You know this. As a freshman he obviously caught on to his routes slow and was best suited doing runs and kickoff stuff. watch hunters highlights as a freshman. How many of his catches were pretty much streaks or fade routes or simple things like that? Or that super lucky almost pic vs ole miss? Come on guy, I normal lile your posts but are you seriously just gonna nit pick every sentence?
Rogers isn't that physical. When team played man, he got shut down. UK played man the whole second half against him and shut him down. Rogers is not good in press coverage. Just because he has great size, doesn't make him a physical receiver. He has average hands, average speed, and is decent in separation. Those types of receivers don't go in the first round.
Any other reciever besides Denarius Moore would have been tackled after the catch on Hunter's td against Ole Miss. Hunter could stretch the field. Thats what they needed him for and he did it great. There are very very few recievers who could make all those catches. Its a reason why he is a top 10 pick when healthy.
I guess I just dont see it your way and we will just have to disagree on this. I would almost agree with avg. hands but I dont see where you get the rest. Maybe im wrong but I saw dr get pressed a lot and have another db shaded to him on almost every passing play after hunter went down. Yet he still had 6 100yd games. Dont see how you can do that without being physical. They dropped another guy in the box bc they weren't afraid of any of our other receivers, they could afford to. Ill just agree to disagree on this one.
He also had a 100% healthy Bray for 1.75 of those SEC games. Matt Simms was passing to him for more than that. Matt. Simms. Its not just you, a lot of people disagree with me on this.
He only had 2 100 yard recieving games against SEC teams and they were Arky, the worst defense in the SEC, and Vandy.
We'll just have to disagree on this.
I don't remember him throwing constant dirt balls to receivers in 2010. He was at least semi-competent enough to hit the easy routes that year. 2011 was like a deer in headlights campaign for him, and he definitely regressed.Justin Hunter got a touchdown against UGA and UF with Simms as quarterback. He also had over 100 yards against UGA and 60 yards against UF.
