By my (very very little) understanding of this “maneuver”, these 20 donors are only paying the buyout? So the money to draw Brown away or hire another “up and comer” isn’t included

It all does sound ridiculous and nothing will probably come of it. I wouldn't believe it either. I have kind of thought the same things about boosters, especially since the Jones and Pruitt hires. They probably haven't been that relevant since Fulmer was fired. I will say this, I did think Pruitt would be better than has what he has done so far.

Hard to imagine the mega-boosters have no say. Money makes for great leverage, or at least the threat of pulling it does. The more you give, the harder it is to replace when you stop.

Mack Brown?? He's not leaving UNC. And between sour feelings by Fulmer and the baggage he entails, Hugh Freeze isn't coming here IMO. What has Chadwell really proved? He's having success at CC in a weird year. That doesn't make him the chosen one. He has zero experience at a big time school. Just leaves Napier as a viable choice, but even he comes with no guarantees. Personally, I'd be more inclined to pursue Tom Herman if Texas fires him. But I still firmly believe Pruitt is coach next year. Not sure it's the wise choice, but I think it will be the choice that is made.

Those are the three top 25 coaches I know of with ties to the state. I was just trying to get ER to say something.
I don’t think Pruitt is fired, and I don’t think anything happens with this stuff er is claiming, if that stuff is even real

Obviously Freeze does as well, but between thinking ER would name drop him AND the fact that ER said the coaches were vetted, I think Freeze is out
