I hear its FREEZING in Knoxville right now...Not snow but FREEZING rain and cold...Be really sad if the roads started FREEZING over and oh yeah I heard the Tennessee river might FREEZE over as well.
Fulmer said Pruitt is our:

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

Acronym HFC

Hidden Meaning:

HUGH
FREEZE
COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

Did I do that right?

It's not what Freeze said before he deleted his Tweet.

Saying Hugh Freeze didn’t want the Auburn job is like saying a starving man doesn’t want a Christmas turkey.

Something you and everyone else needs to know about Hugh Freeze: if his mouth is moving, he’s lying

Once again our hopes will be shattered at a chance to hire a proven winner and offensive genius when Saban hires Freeze to replace Sark.

Bama is the place for coaches to go rehab themselves and Saban is paid the dividends along the way.

Time and time again this has been the case and when lord Saban hires Freeze all the negatively goes away surrounding Freeze. Because, no one is willing to or able to question Saban's decisions. Just like when he was able to coach 2 days after being Covid positive while looking very physically ill on the sidelines......

But in the end, UTs rivals get better and UT gets worse.....

You really think Freeze is leaving Liberty to be an OC at Alabama? I guarantee that's not happening!

Hugh Freeze was the source on that.

so let me get this straight: a fan base that constantly complains that Saban and Alabama run the SEC was unable to hire an OC bc of the SEC?

Hugh wasn't the source on the AL.com article. Given AL.com's reputation, that likely came from the League Office.

The CBS/Dennis Dodd articles likely had Sexton as one of the sources

Wrong again. Hugh signed an extension at the end of 2015 season (4 yrs 19.2MM). This extension covered 2016-2019. He coached the 2016 season at 4.7MM, coached approx 7/12 of the 2017 year at 4.85M. He a little less than half of that (2.0MM) the 2018 of 5.0MM and 2019 of 5.1MM on the table. Total of $12 MM, which is the reported figure.

Hugh did not get extended after the 2016 season due to NCAA issues and record.

You a Hugh Freeze staffer? Shouldn’t you be going onto Wikipedia to make sure Freeze’s “on field” record is included?

Ask Neal McCready, Chase Parham, or Jeffery Wright how much money Hugh left on the table with Jimmy Sexton as his agent. Considering they covered the guy for 6 years, I’ll go with their info.

Freeze liked hookers and partying...so does Bill Clinton....people wanted to put him back in the WH with Hillary.
Freeze wasn’t part of a Sandusky or Briles type scandal...I want to win. He has done his time...his wife and family are behind him....some on here need to get over themselves. If the opportunity presented itself I wish we’d take it.
Just win, baby...

The Freeze hype on this board is just groupthink at this point. It makes no logical or rational sense.
I’m not sure we are using the same definition of logical or rational. There is a strong case for both. Keeping Coach Rhubarb is illogical and irrational.

Serious question: do the SEC bylaws empower the commissioner to block a school from hiring a head coach? Just based on the operations of the SEC home office I think it is a stretch to assume they have been authorized with that level of power. They are not a party to the contract among other reasons for this to seem like an odd level of power.

We know they set conference schedules, hire refs and oversee that function, collect and disseminate bowl and tv revenues, and they can issue fines based on established rules all the schools agree to.

Until freeze became an option for teams recently, I had never heard of this being a power the commissioner has.

There's a better chance Mullen guess to the NFL and Freeze replaces him there. Freeze isn't going to leave a HC job to be a coordinator.

Yeah, Scott Stricklin is hiring Hugh Freeze...mmmmmmmk

Go look at where Stricklin was the AD before Florida and get back to me.

Literally the only guy less likely to hire Freeze would be Ross Bjork

No, but I can read an employment contract and a Form 990.

I did check with the Ole Miss foundation. The $12MM reported figure was the amount remaining on Hugh's contract that wasnt paid due to his personal issues. Had Ole Miss extended his contract at the end of 2016, it would have been in the $16-17MM range but they didn't so that's a moot point. If you want to say that Hugh's personal issues and NCAA issues cost him $16-17MM, that's a fair statement (since he likely would have been extended without the NCAA issues). If you want to say he walked out on $17MM due to personal issues, that is factually inaccurate.

Did Freeze walk away with no buyout and no settlement? Yes or yes?

The $16M is cited here and has been consistently referred to as the figure by Neal and Chase, who are the foremost authorities on all things Ole Miss. They break every story there.

Yes, I am well aware. My point is Freeze isn’t any better than what we currently have. In 3 years, the same people who are jumping up and down wanting him hired, will want him fired. It’s just a revolving door.
I’d love to see Hugh the first time he loses to a Vandy (like he did twice at Ole Miss with the best team money could buy) and he spends the entire next week searching his name on Twitter.

Here’s an al.com story for you: Hugh Freeze stories emerge from former female students

Just a bit of background here. I'm from the Memphis area and used to volunteer coach at a couple of schools in the area. I know some of the assistants who were at Briarcrest at the time (and actually lived close to where Hugh lived) and some of those guys are still close with Hugh. My wife's best friend is close with Hugh's wife. Let's just say when the allegations came out in 2017, there weren't a ton of people shocked. You can go back to some of my posts before all of this stuff broke and you will see me saying he wasn't practicing what he preached. There had been these type of rumors floating around for a while.

From what I've heard about the Briarcrest stuff, it's worse than it sounds. Much more on the creepy side than the sexual side. Someone who I went to HS went (and taught at Briarcrest at that time) referred to it much like the assistant principal who seemed to somewhat enjoy giving girls corporal punishment a little too much.

Ultimately, Freeze is a flawed man but a very good head coach. He is a far superior coach to anyone we've had since Fulmer. It's a risky hire but I would rather take a shot on a guy who has proven to be very good instead of a guy that has proven that he isn't. It's not like Pruitt is squeaky clean.

There are plenty of stories swirling about Freeze’s time at Briarcrest
