I don't have any inside info on hirings/firings but can provide some perspective on current mindset of high level donors towards the program.
I sat in TN terrace with some higher level donors during the Bama game. They left in the 2nd qtr, disgusted by the on-field product and have verbally stated they're tired of the lack of success. Tired of hearing the same crap we all hear, "we're going to be good next year." See, people like this look at the money donated as an investment and success is their ROI and currently they're getting no return on their investment. Do you think people who have the level of financial success it takes to be able to donate large sums of cash don't take ROI on their investments or time seriously? The people I know are true fanatics. They're donating because, like us, they LOVE TN, and I'd say most donors are this way as well, there are plenty of other non-profits they can donate too.
I don't know what their future donation plans are or if other donors of their level feel the same, these are the only ones I personally know well. However, it is logical deduction that the other large boosters feel the same frustration with the program.
I personally think the program is coming to an impasse. It is losing/has lost a generation of fans via the lack of winning, the diehards have become apathetic, and its' boosters are seriously questioning the ROI on their investment in the program. Does the AD dept. sincerely understand and realize this? Are they willing to do what it takes to win? It's going to take more than spending money, will they do that?
This is a huge decision for TN, if they keep CJP and he fails I think the fallout could be program changing.
