Tough game for UT...and will have to scrap to have any rushing success.

Not sure I agree with this. Buffalo had nearly 1 back rush for 100 yards and another had 14 carries for 83 yards. Florida Atlantic's starting running back was averaging 5.8 yards a carry, and Stacy averaged 7 yards a carry for Vandy. Against Missouri they did shut down Franklin, but one running back averaged 7.2 yards a carry and the other running back averaged 5.1.

We don't have the skill or speed to play man against Georgia. I expect to see a lot of zone Saturday.

Agree. Starting Gordon IMO wouldn't hurt things either. I keep hearing about the star position. If he's so good at that, put him there when they go to Nickel and put him opposite Prentiss in traditional sets. I keep hearing this, I keep hearing that...I've yet to see a better corner not named Prentiss on this team. Flat out mind boggling.

Georgia has all of its D starters back now. I think everyone on Georgia's schedule will struggle to run. To beat Georgia you have to throw well and protect your QB.

I think Gordon is the only bright spot we have in the secondary. That being said, there is a reason he has never played CB at UT. He can't play fast when he has to think so much. We play a lot of nickel. What baffled me is not playing Bonner or Grey Saturday, but letting Teague get more reps. Georgia beat Teague like a red headed step child last year.

Gordon is leaps and bounds better than Teague and would instantly improve our D if starting.

Expect more of the same Sat.

Bend but don't break..they can have all the yardage they want just don't let them score, atleast not TD's

Bent and broken against Florida's offense in the second half and then the juggernaut of Akron in the first half....can't wait to see what happens tomorrow :vava:

What happens when AJ gets dinged up running the ball? Just a thought

Then the next man gets his turn... Put your best players in positions to help. He is more likely to get hurt being cut down at his home position. Injuries happen in this game.

I really think GA needs to trot out those 'magic unis' they wore vs. Boise St. a couple of years ago...alas, they're likely buried 'neath Sanford Stadium in the same manner as our orange cleats. GBO

Looking forward to our front 3 vs their oline. Georgia has great guards but GA hasn't played against anyone with the size of McCullers over their center. It will take one of those gaurds and the center at all times to keep pressure from coming up the middle.

Really hoping for Smith to finally have a breakout game.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think this team is going to beat a top ten team. I certainly hope they do and I'll be cheering but we'll have to play at a level this team hasn't approached yet.

The question I have is this. Is Georgia really a top 10 team? I know they are ranked number 5 right now. But, I don't think they are really that good and will be a top 10 team by the end of the year. Of course they have the easy schedule again. But, are they really a top 10 team? I don't think so.

Uga seemed to kick it into a new gear in the 2nd half whipping Mizz and annihilating Vandy. Beating Vandy 46-3 at Vandy is impressive. I think Uga is a legit top 10 team. As much as I hate to admit it, I think this game will get ugly...not in our favor. I will be happy if we keep it competitive.

UT is gonna have to figure out a way to run it enough that Georgia has to respect that. That also helps protect your QB not only from blitzs but it also makes passing lanes easier to manage.
That doesn't mean rushing for 150 or Neal getting 100, but if UT goes full bore passing like they did the last quarter of the UF game you will see a similar result. If we go that route from the get go like some think we may, the game may be over by half time.

IMO the running game's problem has been Chaney's lack of willingness to call run plays. He doesn't force the defense to honor anything. To win this game, he's going to have to call a good game. That means no obvious run formations and pass formations. He can run by spreading out the defense, but he doesn't. He uses that pistol formation like a turtle shell and it doesn't work. Too many three and outs kill any performance our defense is having, ala the Florida game. Chaney kept our defense exhausted by going pass crazy and killed us.
