How would you feel about Fulmer eventually replacing Hamilton as Athletic Director?

Would you be comfortable with Fulmer becoming the Athletic Director?

No sez I !! I just got my season tickets back and would like to keep them this time!

Next question would i like my hand slammed in a car door? Not no but Hell no. I heard he was in the ER last night from dislocating his shoulder while patting himself on the back during the Dooley interview. Go Vols..

If I were Dooley or any other coach I would demand my buyout to go to another school become $1 and the buyout if I were fired become $25,000,000 if Foolmore were ever named AD.

I can't believe the vote is this close. We still have a long way to go in weeding out the Fulmerites. Don't get me wrong in his prime CPF was a great football coach but the game passed him by when he was to stubborn to make changes to his staff over the years until it was to late.

Its just amazing to me that they want him in charge of the Athletic department. The days of yesteryear when schools would put the old ball coach in at AD is long gone. Especially for major programs like Tennessee. You have to have guys who can run a program like a CEO would a corporation.

We saw how CPF was with his staff being so loyal to the assistant coaches to not make changes that it became detrimental to the program. Do you think he would be willing to fire/replace head coaches or make suggestions that they need to make staff changes? I don't thank he would.

If and when we do change AD we need a professional like Jeremy Foley. Old football coaches do not have the business sense to run a large program. Mal Moore almost totally wrecked the Alabama program before getting lucky with Saban and I do not see where Fulmer would do any better.

Doug Dickey UT AD 1984-2002

What was the UTAD's budget in 1984?

I guess you could hire an old football coach to be a figurehead AD as long as you also hired a business guy to be an "assistant" and do all the real work, but that seems like a stupid waste of money to me.

We can all agree Fulmer became very lackadaisical in his last few year. No reason to believe that wouldn't happen again.

You guys are obviously content with yourselves. I'll end my contribution to this conversation like this, since I've answered a question in a way yall didnt like.

I dont give a damn who your AD is now, or who will become the AD when the weasel you have decides to hang it up or gets canned. I hope your football team does well, your cheerleaders stay hot, and your basketball team make past round 2 of the AA's.

Im done now

Seriously go chat on an TAM board.

The problem with the argument against CPF which relies on his not having business experience is that Hamilton is a poor example of how a business mind could add value as AD.

He's pissed away more money than any coach as AD ever had. He's a crappy negotiator and he can't sell Tennessee to anyone with a proven record.

Hammy just doesn't make the case that it's better to hire a person with business experience... and I'm one who agrees with the principle.

He's just incompetent. As is true with any other profession, there are quite a few incompetent people in business. In well-run organizations, they are either never hired or they get fired. If they run their own business, it fails.

Hamilton should go whether Fulmer replaces him or not.

Would be nothing but a complete disaster... Fulmer was a great coach the first half of his tenure but he got too big for his britches... He had it in his head that he could not be fired. There is no way that he could run a multi million dollar enterprise such as the UTAD. Besides... he would be too worried about the day to day operations of the football program and we would never have a coach worth having. He needs to be nothing more than a former coach and current fan.
