How would have Leach and Minshew fared this season at UT?

If it was only the talent level, then no way the SC or the Charlotte game is remotely close. With our receivers and QBs, leach would have put up some serious numbers.

And before any one says “No because our Oline sucks”, the pass protection is fixable if you can get everyone to know their assignments including and especially our TE’s and backs.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound boiled chicken cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup red grapes halved
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup roasted pecans chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • celery leaves chopped (optional)
Directions

  1. Add chopped chicken to a large bowl along with celery, grapes, dried cherries, chopped pecans, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. If using chopped celery leaves, add these as well. Stir together until just combined.

Leach would have a better record for THIS season but there is nothing in his resume that would lead me to believe that he could recruit the needed players to be competitive for SEC east, or a SEC Title. We just got rid of gimmick man, let's not go back, EVER!

The passing game would probably be better. But, the run game and defense would likely be worse. I think Leach would do well here. But, this was always going to be a rebuilding year, no matter who we hired.

Don't forget that Mike Leach went 3-9, 6-7, and 3-9 in his first 3 seasons at Washington State. It took him a few years to build his program there just like it would have taken him a few years to build it here. ANYONE coming into this situation would have had to wade through 2 to 3 years of mediocre-at-best results.

The question for Fulmer was "What kind of program do you want to begin building?" and he chose to begin building toward great recruiting, great defense, and a physical run game and I'm glad he did. Since that's what Tennessee is trying to build, I don't think we could have made a better hire than Jeremy Pruitt.

Hard to say with such a crappy O-line but Leach isn’t really kown for his “amazing” linemen.

I’d guess he’s close to UF but beats USC. I’d bet he takes 2 of the last 3 we got as well.

Probably the same range Pruitt had but it’s like the Backup QB debate teams have every season.

I don't know what exactly another coach would do but you have to play to any strengths you have and avoid plays that show your weaknesses. I think we may see some coaches use a lot of sweeps, short passes, screens etc against teams to try to slow down the rush. I think were playing against ourselves trying to be a power rushing team as we don't have the talent or ability to do so. I also think they would encourage JG to run the ball more as he should be able to get loose for some gains when he avoids the rush. Maybe he is to slow.
Whatever we do going forward were not going to be successful with attempts to be a power rushing team dont have the line to make it happen.

I like Pruitt. But I was excited when I heard Leach was coming here. I couldn't believe UT would actually hire someone that wasn't a yes man to the boosters.

Leach is not a person who can be controlled. so it did not surprise me, when they stopped him from coming here.
I feel Pruitt has some of that quality in him also. I want someone to run the problem his way, not coward down to the power players here.
there is an excellent article out there, about him walking to work, everyday in Pullman. It seems like everybody loves him there.

I don't understand the hate for Leach. He has won everywhere he has went, with 3 star players. It was hard to recruit Texas Tech when he was there, and even harder to get players to come to Pullman, WA.
I don't think people understand what Pullman, Washington is like. It is mostly a farming community of about 50,000.

Some say he can't recruit, or have a decent defense. If he actually coached at a higher tier school like UT, it would be easier to get top recruits. What QB/ Receivers wouldn't want to learn from him?
The Same with Defense, wouldn't you be able to attract better Defensive coaches at school like UT?

And Im a fan from a entertainment angle alone.

Washington State has only one four star player. 57th in the nation in talent, because *no one* can recruit to Washington State. Leach would do better recruiting than many believe, and it would be fun to see what he could finally do with SEC talent. At this point in their careers, he's a much better head coach than Pruitt.

Well he's also been a head coach just a wee bit longer than Pruitt.

Why does he go to obscure locations like Lubbock, Tx and Pullman, Wa?
