Nah usually the best team wins. Team and talent are not always the same thing.

I like our depth at every position better than UGA's. I think most people who assume UGA has this huge talent gap doesn't pay close attention to Georgia's roster outside of recruiting rankings which is no longer even a passable measure of the quality of a team's roster. ATLVol on 247 posted a couple of things I am going to share here. He keeps up with Georgia's roster.

"Love Brooks but couldn't disagree more about their OL. Stockton has been pressured a ton, and they don't have 1 surefire high NFL pick starting. They do, however, have a true freshman we all know (Juan Gaston) who beat out everyone else to start at OG in week 1 - however, he'll likely be out again this week with injury. They've got multiple True and RS Fr in their two-deep. Far from "stellar" IMO, and something that our Front 7 has to take advantage of, especially with Neyland behind them."

Kirby has complained publicly about his lack of depth.

"They're obviously very good, but what's also obvious is that they have not backfilled the insane amount of talent that's been lost over the last 2-3 NFL Draft cycles, not to mention (at least in terms of depth) to the portal. They just had a record 13 dudes drafted in June!

Just comparing this year to last year, Bolden is a stud at one S but last year they had him AND Starks. They've got solid Edge guys, but none of them approach the level of Walker and Williams - they do have Griffin and Gibson but right now they're both playing roles similar or less to what Dye and Campbell are playing. Their DL are obviously solid, but again nothing like they had in 21-23. DBs are highly rated but not gamebreakers so far.

ILBs on the other hand are very, very good with Allen/Cole/Williams/Wilson - easily the strongest unit on the entire team IMO.

Point being, yes, they are very talented and well coached for sure. But they are no longer the juggernaut NFL scout team on that side of the ball that we've faced since Heupel has been here. Finally, and to "yes, and" my own point, having been in Athens myself last season, the difference for our offense having to deal with that crowd + their piped in 80's hair metal music all the way up to every single snap vs. being in our own stadium is going to be huge for our offense."

"Based on who they're projecting to bring, IMO it's pretty obvious that while their ILB room is ferocious the rest of the defense just doesn't have the same level of talent or experience. For example, at OLB I think Johnson is talented but he doesn't look anything like the two first rounders from last season, and behind him is an Army transfer who hasn't broken through. At Star, Aguero is acknowledged as a weak link (that IMO we have to exploit with the Slot WR) and then JAGs, and CB has highly rated dudes who are fine but not projected first round picks like they've recently had. Same for S, where again Bolden is very good but Jones is a major question mark that they brought in 3(!!!) transfers to try and win the job over but haven't.

Let me reiterate: They're good. They're talented. BUT I just don't see them as anywhere near what they've had in the last seasons where they've been truly elite and overflowing with 1st/2nd day NFL picks for the upcoming draft."

uga. The stadium is nondescript. They copied their helmet and have the same mascot as 75% of the high schools in America. They literally have no recognized symbols, songs, or traditions.

Bushes on the sideline. Wow.

All things equal - it’s the jimmies and the joes. I think both teams are well coached. I don’t agree with the narrative that CJH cannot beat Smart / Smart has him figured out / etc. Kirby has had and still has a significant talent advantage (in my opinion). Can a school have great talent and be a sub par team - yes. Why? They are poorly coached. I don’t think anyone could argue either team in this case is poorly coached. UGA has more talent - period. UT can win . . . But will need help in the areas of turnovers / special teams / etc (in my opinion).

Very anxious. I’m finding it difficult to contain my excitement less than 48 hours from kickoff.

Both sides have done a good job in holding their composure so far. Fans and teams. I have seen very little bragging this week. Even the normal braggarts on Twitter seem to be showing modest restraint.

Surely this is going to be a fantastic atmosphere.

Make a trip to Athens, then go to Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, Gainesville, etc.

Fans are rough all over on opposing fans, but in Athens, uga fans take it to a disgusting level. I sincerely apologize for upsetting your delicate sensitivities, but I have no tolerance for the VAST majority of uga fans. Whiny, needy, and classless. The uga dude who started this thread seems to be an exception, but overall the generalization holds.

All things are rarely equal though.
Don't get me wrong I would much rather have more talent than less talent.
But chemistry and locker room dynamics and culture play an important factor as well.
We have absolutely not had more talent then Alabama two out of the last three years. No way.
But we had better teams those years.

Georgia offense doesn't scare me as much as their defense. Their defense still seems legit across the board.

If I had to pick a fanbase that's totally insufferable as a whole, it'd be Georgia, but stepping back and looking at it from an outside perspective, we're pretty abrasive ourselves. God help the rest of them ( actually, pisson them ) , if we go on a run again.

We are pretty abrasive but I pledge to NEVER be like some Georgia fans. Every fanbase has it's knuckleheads but it seems like Georgia has many. I've heard stories of kids getting cursed at, stuff being thrown, grown men on all fours barking at opposing fans, etc. I've never made the trip to Athens but the general consensus from the posters on here who have been is that it's the worst place in the SEC (or country) to be a visitor. I'd love to send the ones that made the trip back to Athens with a big L. Let's get it done men. GBO

Smart is one of the few college coaches who has figured out how to completely shutdown Heupel’s style of offense and unless Heupel goes for broke and has a lot of tricks up his sleeve I expect nothing different on Saturday. If we win it will be because we kept it low scoring and the defense will get a turnover to put us in favorable field position. I think the over/under is generous in this one. Could be is 20-17 or 13-10 even.
