I know I said that it was time to move on to the gridiron but this is worth mentioning. Memphis looks like they are taller, more athletic, quicker, and better at every single position. We don't get up and down the court half as fast as they do. If you look at them and then look at us, it makes you wonder how we beat them or even played close to them. Look how prepared they were for this game and think of how we looked last night. I'm starting to think that this Vol team played way over their heads this year and overacheived. I just don't think we could beat them again this year if we played them 10 times. I know this will probably make some of you mad but it is the truth.

They look so good b/c Mich. St. is probably the worst Sweet 16 team left that can run the floor baseline to baseline. This was possibly the best match-up Memphis could have had in the regional semis.

We met them playing our best while they weren't playing their best. Good lord Memphis looks good tonight.

I'll agree that this was a good matchup for them but they look very quick and crisp with their play. They also look focused and well prepared. We looked like we hadn't practiced in a month and had never seen any game film on UL. Did you see Rose on that dunk. My Lord, he is talented. I wish we had a point guard like that.

They got what they deserved. Those delusional fans were talking so much smack before the game, but we shut them up.

We weren't playing our best. "Our best" is when Lofton actually makes a three. If he was on during that game, we would have won by 15.

"Our best" is when the team is functioning well as a collective effort. I think we are at our best when we didn't have to rely on Lofton, but when he was there strong it certainly helped things. Lofton being mediocre FORCED the team to be a team.

With all of the quickness and tall defenders, I wonder why Memphis doesn't press alot. They could really get up and down the court and cause alot of turnovers. The style of play that we play would be good for Memphis in my opinion.

Kind of looks now like they may have underestimated us just a hair too much and JaJuan and JP jumped up and bit 'em.

Because they're Memphis. That's just it.

I still cling to the poor FT shooting=the future death of them argument, despite the 74 % effort tonight. I don't believe in their ability to beat another #1 seed because of that.

We won with a lineup that helped win 28 other games. However, I'm still not sure the change at point guard was needed in the tournament. "Dance with the girl ya brung with ya" Turnovers absolutely killed the Vols in the tournament and I think the change at pg and team chemistry was a big factor. Plus, the forward position became thinner with the move of Prince from forward to guard.

How did you beat Memphis? How did you beat Florida 3 out of 4 during their national championship years?

Simple. Teams play differently in the tournament than they do in the regular season. Some take it up a notch then, or peak then (however you want tp put it), while others have peaked too early or just have one bad night, which is all it takes.

We were the better team that night and TN was absolutely fired up for that game. That kind of intensity doesn't happen every time on the court. We had a very good year and I loved every minute of it. For the first time I can remember, I am looking forward to basketball next season.

Dorsey/Dozier had a horrible game, that's how we won.

well up to that point, Dozier had been playing horribly altogether and Dorsey wasn't much better. They're playing better now and not to mention Derrick Rose has just exploded and sparked the Memphis offense.

do you all really believe you were at your best in the memphis game? You beat 'em, but that was far from the best effort I saw from Tennessee this year.

Actually Rose started playing through the roof starting with the UT game. Our team isnt a great fundamentals team. When we had to turn around and play Vandy right after, we were tired and played sloppy. I dont think we ever recovered from being a tired team and started a trend or habit of playing a bit sloppy. Bottom line, we peaked at the WRONG time.
