How hard will it be

You can cheer for UT without spending a dime. You can hope Tennessee wins every game they play without stepping foot in Neyland Stadium. Does not make you less of a fan. If people follow blind and choose to just support failures by the coaches then change would never happen. Losing would be ok. UT and the decision makers would see the fanbase as happy, the money rolling in and just allow things to be as they are. Just because you want to see UT succeed, does not mean your less of a fan. You just choose to not close your eyes and fall in line.

Doyle, my friend, look at it this way. I want Dools gone more than anybody. But, if he returns, Im still going to watch every game because what else wuld I do? Pout and not watch because of Dooley? I just love UT football too much to do that.

This is exactly how I feel. Actually this post gave me a vols boner.

I am and will always be a VFL. I might not be a happy Vol, but I will still cheer for our teams. I might also say some not so nice things under my breath!!!!!! Still think Dooley will leave if the buyout is fair for family reasons. I bet his wife is ready to go now.

to show Tennessee support next year if Derek Dooley returns as head coach in 2013?

I won't spend a dime on the team if he is back.

Not hard at all. Im not going to take it out on the players.

The only way I will be somewhat optimistic about him returning next year is to win out this year impressively. We need to catch a ranked team with a record of 8-4 or preferebly 9-3 in a bowl game and get a "signature" type win to finish the season 8-5. This is my final attempt to give Dooley a shot at calling this season a "success".

As I stated before, to each his own but if you choose to fill the stadium in support of a subpar coach, don't cry when the Vols consistently lose the games that count.

If you are watching it on TV then you are supporting them. Advertising and ratings = Support

He said he isn't going to spend a dime on the team. If he is watching the games on TV he isn't spending money on the team. I will NEVER miss a down next year, but I will watch it from my couch. I just can't afford to go to the games if the team isn't going to give me four quarters. This year I normally have been turning the games off with about 6 minutes left in the game because we aren't in it.

+1

Worse thing a fanbase can do is act like things are fine. Fill the stadium and keep spending that cash. Hart and the AD would thank you. Just don't expect to see alot of winning. We'll see what Neyland looks like Saturday. It won't be Miami, but it will not be pretty.

Coming from the same guy who started a thread earlier this week admitting that he wished UT would lose some games. The better question is what is wrong with you!? Lol

Once again, wanting DD gone has nothing to do with wanting to watch us play and loving UT. In fact, I want him canned BECAUSE I love UT so much. And yes, It would be ok with me if we had to lose Saturday to make that happen, because I want what's best for the program in the long run.

I always want to win but if a loss would speed up the process of getting a winning coach here?
I have no problem with it.

Maybe we should not have been so hard on Da'Rick and Bray for the UK game last year. Maybe they were just trying to do their part to get a new coach. Dang it!!

There's a word for you: bandwagon fan.

We don't need you, or want you.

Yah cause if you don't love Dooley then you cant possibly still like the team. To support the players you just have to, HAVE TO support dooley!!!

Wow some people!

I agree with the OP, I won't be giving this AD any of my personal money as long as Dooley is still our coach. But I will watch all the games, AT HOME, and cheer for the PLAYERS.
I live in northern Indiana and it would cost a pretty penny for me and my wife to go watch a game in person. I'd be willing to do that if we had coaches that could coach up this talent and beat some teams that matter, but right now we don't. So why should I spend that much money to either watch us lose against a good team, play bad and possibly lose against a second rate team, or beat some crappy, sisters of the poor team? Going to a game would also cost me an entire weekend of time. So why should I waste that much time just to watch Dooley field yet another unprepared, poorly coached team? For me the returns are not worth the investment, especially since it would be clear that the AD could care less about what I want, what I think, or how I feel.

So while you may think what you want, I have been, am and will continue to be a fan of the TRUE Vols, the players. Its the players, that will be Vols and only Vols for their entire college careers. Coaches on the other hand will work for many different programs and for most are only where they are because thats the school that was willing to pay them the most and/or gives them the best shot to advance their careers. Coaches will up and leave the second a better job offer comes along. So whether were winning or losing I will never be loyal to a coach and will only support them if they give me a reason too. The players are the only ones that I will blindy support and be loyal to.

Me, I'll be disappointed in the short term that UT could not or would not bring in a proven winner. I'll go to the O&W game with my son, as is tradition. I'll stand in line with my son and help him get his autographs and that will be cool, because it's about supporting the players...until we get to the Dooley line. Ill have to bite my tounge so as not to make a sarcastic remark. I'll tell him Thanks! and wish him Good Luck.

We'll go get a hotdog and a coke, find a good seat, spread out real good because we might be the only ones there. There will be something to get excited about, a new player or a player that's been around a while that shows out. I'll convince myself that THIS IS THE YEAR. Afterall, it's all about the players and their college experience.

Summer camp and then Fall will arive. Oregon will hang 100 on us and Muschamp will get his 3rd straight win. I'll ask my wife why I bother and she'll tell me I'm a glutton for punishment. I'll tell her it's about supporting the team.

In other words, it'll be just like this year, which is like last year, and about this time NEXT year I'll peek into the rumor and speculation forum and see whats going on in the Gruden LXXV thread.

GiveBigOffer!

No disrespect to coaches or players intended.

I know how you feel. I have made that drive many a weekend as I lived in Goshen for quite a while when I was younger. I usually made it to 3-4 home games back then. Now West AZ to Knoxville is even worse. I still usually make 4-5 games a year but, I now have alot more free time and the funding to do so. It's tough to travel 4000 miles and spend a couple thousand dollars for the product we have had on the field of late. You have to keep in mind alot of the ones calling people bandwagon fans live IN Knox county or close to it and still watch the game from home. "I support Dooley" does not make them any more of a fan. IMO, support of Dooley at this point almost makes me question them as a fan. How could they really want what is best for UT and want Dooley back in 2013? Makes no sense to me.

Well since I'm a UT fan at heart, I will still watch every game, I will still attend every home game, and I will still support the players and Derek Dooley next year.

As for you pathetic fare weather fans, you all can go like another team

And when CDD starts (if) winning next year, Neyland will be packed again. All will be forgiven, Gruden talk will stop.

I supported the team when Bill Battle was coach, I supported them with John Majors, I supported Phil Fulmer and even though I knew it was a big mistake to fire Fulmer, I was there when Lane Kiffen coached. Dooley is our coach and I support him, when he's gone, I'll support the Big Orange, I love UT football no matter who the coach is...win or lose...Go Big Orange!!!!
