Yeah, when Bama is down as low as they are, and we are surging like this, then it's pretty clear that this is the year that we take over the series again.

Edit: Also, Gray is a good RB but he is not as good as Ty at this point. Until Gray learns to run it more North and South he will not be better than Ty Chandler.

Lol Chandler lost us the first game? How so because of the first interception (fumble) whatever you want to call it that JG threw to him at 3 yds away at a speed of about 90mph lol 😂. Had nothing to do with the Interception JG threw into multiple defenders or the fumble JG lost because he never looked at his blind side....

Obviously you know nothing about Football.

I think Ty is great, fantastic speed, good power for his size (also, he's bigger than he's listed it feels like. I'd say he's probably 6 feet tall at least). He's better than Gray right now, but I think Gray will be the best running back we've had since Kamara for sure. He's got the best vision I've seen for a freshman, very good speed. I like him a lot.

Chandler is probably around top 5 (somewhere in the #3 - #7 range) in the SEC based on his career stats, plus the fact that he's been playing at a disadvantage behind a very poor run blocking O-line for much of his career. He's also good in the passing game.

Gray might be a bit too early to tell, but probably top 12ish as of today, but I expect him to move up further with more experience.

Tough to analyze yet based on this year's stats, because the disparities in competition are pretty huge this early in the year. For instead, both Tavean Feaster and Rico Dowdle are top 10 statistically based on yards per carry right now, but South Carolina also played Charleston Southern and ran for nearly 500 yards on them. Their stats weren't nearly as good versus North Carolina, and UNC actually had a pretty weak run defense last year.

Off the top of my head, I'd say D'Andre Swift and Najee Harris are ahead of Chandler. And then you can debate about 5 guys (including Chandler) after that. However, Georgia's new 5-star RB Zamir White might've leapfrogged a lot of players; only played 2 games and he's a backup, but he looks elite.

Where did that guy come from? You schooled him, but it's likely a vain effort. Chandler IS a terrific TN with power, speed & pass-catching skills.

If Chaney decides to give JG one look/read then dump it off, I hope he dumps it to gray. There has to be a way to get him the ball in space even with a QB that's limited in his ability to see the field.

Of course not, he’s a Gator. He’s most certainly one of the top five all-purpose backs in the league; almost 2,000 career rushing yards on 381 carries, that’s a 5 yards per carry average, another 500 yards receiving on 41 catches, and 21 total td’s. And many HUGE plays in HUGE games over his career; he’s the LSU killer, took one 80 yards to the house v FSU and was a human highlight film v Michigan in the Peach Bowl.

But I should probably trust your opinion on great RB’s more so than Reggie Bush’s who recently called Perine “the most versatile playmaker in the country.”

I would think that managing JG will be the goal. Slants, quick slants, WR/RB screens, maybe a few outs, a few bombs. I think we need to throw 6-8 "hope and prey type long balls" a game though, we need to catch a break and long play or TD.

If you want to know what the Vols need, it's a BIG Power Back for short yardage.....if you can't make 4th and 1 all else is futile, no?

Really like Ty and Eric, neither are top 7-8 in the league. Maybe top 10.

Gray is special with his ability to cut, lateral movement, elusiveness....needs to learn when to cut up field and explode, tends to make one cut too many on a percentage of his runs. Doesn’t have the same top end speed as Ty, but he’s gonna be a great one here if he stays healthy and if Tennessee continues to feature him. He and Ty are a nice 1-2 combo right now. Agree that Chandler is the better back right now.

Jordan can’t do what either Gray or Ty can. He also refuses to turn the ball upfield, bounces the ball to the outside too much when that isn’t his skill set. Only so many carries to be had in a game, they need to be split between the more dynamic running backs Chandler and Gray imo.

Here’s what’s going to blow your mind. Georgia has 2 running backs averaging over 9+ yards per carry, 1 back averaging over 10 yards per carry, and 1 slacker only averaging 7+ yards per carry......
