Some posts on another thread got me thinking. It obviously bothers people that we have so many fans that don't cheer and tell people to sit down during games. What percent of the stadium do you think these people make up, and how do you think that compares to other stadiums across the country?

Fact: Approximately 31.0978 % of people in Neyland Stadium tell people to sit down. Personally, I've never been told to sit down.

Fact: Neyland Stadium is still the best place on Earth to watch a sporting event. Personally, I've never been to another stadium, but the words I speak are true. Or should I spell it Treux for you Mr. Cajun Jackass!!!

Lol, how is it down there on the Bayou? You had any Cuchon de Lait Po-Boys yet? Oh, and I saw the video of Mendes being sun burnt. Hilarious.

I've experienced more vol on vol anger than vol on enemy anger in Neyland during my lifetime. I just think that Neyland would easily be the hardest place to play in the country, and our homefield advantage would be much bigger if we had 70+% of the stadium standing up and being crazy loud.

P.S. It's spelled treaux. I have personally ended the crawfish season down here early. I haven't experience the Cuchon de Lait, but it's on the list.

This.
Speaking as someone who has been to other stadiums, this still hold true.

I was in the stands at Ohio State vs. Michigan a couple years back when they were #1 and #2. As big as that game is and the fact it was #1/#2 that stadium was still not even close to a SEC game in Neyland Stadium. I was laughing when the Michigan offense came on to the field for the first time and the Luckeye crowd "Got Loud". I told my buddy to come to a game down here and he did. I still quote him to this day talking about SEC vs. Big 10 debates when he said, "I hear about it but until you actually are in attendance you don't realize. I still support the Big 10 but it just isn't close to you guys!!!!"

I have been to...
Ohio State, Florida, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Auburn, Miami, UGA, Ole Miss, Washington, LSU, Michigan, South Carolina, Clemson and still nothing beats a Saturday in Neyland.

With the exception of witnessing the drunk Vol Fan intentionally dumping his coke into a Vol-ette's purse and having the Vol-ette's boyfriend pummel the instigator, I haven't seen too much Vol on Vol anger.

In regards to Vol on Enemy anger, I think we've both been involved in our fair share. 2001 UGA for me, 2006 Air Force for me, and 2008 UF for you. I think we know which type of animosity is more prevalent in Neyland.

neyland--not nearly as loud as it should be, due to the people who don't want to stand up and make noise---very simple. Other stadiums with less fans are louder.

Nothing worse than so drunk people with 40 of them sitting in 2 seats, that won't sit down& are stranding on the bleacher, aren't watching the game to begin with, and yes I'm gonna say something, I didn't pay my money to watch them make idiots out themselves, I came to watch TENNESSEE FOOTBALL..
Neyland Stadium rocks, us ole gizzers know when to stand and NOT stand.. I have laryngitis after all the home games-don't tell me everyone isn't yelling.. both parties should have some class and respect for each other.. I'm so sick and tired of young whipper snappers talking about us old folk, geez LOL Your day is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not really true. The dynamic at Neyland is about the same as everywhere else. Obnoxious kids to the left . . . Elderly fans to the right. . . Dumbass trying to start the wave down front . . . Loud guy who thinks he's football genius behind me.

Too Funny!!!!!! We sell our tickets to no one that can chance us loosing our seats in the Neyland.. You may respectfully say HELL no and that's fine, won't bother us one iota... I'm a short lady, have some class & manners... I'd never stand in front of you and when we stand it's always when standing is called for.. They need a drunk section in Neyland, next time I see Mike Hamilton, I'll make that suggestion.. or a seatless section... there ya go.. :pepper:

I didn't mean to sound like I don't enjoy my Saturdays in Neyland, because I will miss those times tremendously now that I'm in red stick. I just don't have much experience outside of Neyland, so I don't have a good comparison.

This is what I hear. The swamp, autzen, and others have a reputation of being louder with less fans. I've never been to those, so I can't really confirm or deny.

I'm 23 and would like to stand more during games than my section (X5) does. But I agree, for the most part everyone is good at standing/sitting at appropriate times.

Sounds good to me, would add more people to the stadium instead of taking seats out.

If standing is classless then I'm classless with a smile. :good!:

Someone please explain to me how standing equals noise.

Is it possible to make noise while in a seated position?

There is nothing wrong with Neyland. Crowd noise and on field performance are linked.

Personally, I don't think the Swamp is as loud as it used to be.

When winning was new, the atmosphere was crazy. It's more of a spoiled crowd now.

It explains its self.. If a season ticket holder sells their tickets to an individual or party that gets kicked out of Neyland or reported, they're at chance of loosing their seats.. just because another body sits there those seats were originally paid for by another soul.. and standing isn't classless, there's also an issue of flat out manners & not being rude to those around ya... People can stand and scream all they want- that's not an issue..be it as it may standing is a part of football.. stand, sit, lay on your backs, I don't care, make noise when the other team has the dam ball.. Gosh don't ya love a good debate? You guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!! Passion for your football and how you feel makes for a better debate.. :salute:

Its really quite stupid to be standing the whole game. you should stand on a large defensive play or as a big play develops. Standing the whole time doesnt help the team.

standing makes much more noise, you can cheer louder. choirs don't sit when they sing, they stand because they can project their voices louder.
