How do we sellout vs KY and not Mizzou?

Nebraska owned Mizzou for YEARS.

This is accurate. Decades, even.

Nebraska fans and Alabama fans have a lot in common. Neither is very much fun to be around.

I realize that Tennessee has had a lot of historical success on the football field. There has been much less in recent years, which is what makes this present-day arrogance puzzling.

I realize y'all are excited about your future. We are about ours as well.

If you have a moment, read about our next quarterback, Drew Lock.

Seems to me we have the makings of a nice rivalry, here.

That remains to be seen. Things are going to get very interesting the next few years and frankly, I'm looking forward to our games. Mizzou fans have also been great so far. Although I will say that it will take a lot for me to view the UT vs Mizzou games the same way I look at UT vs Florida or UT vs Georgia games.

It's going to take awhile for people on our end to consider this a rivalry. For instance we've been playing 'Bama since 1901. South Carolina has only recently become an important game, and one that some MIGHT consider a rivalry. They came into the conference in 1992.

Simply, we haven't played you enough to hate you like we do everyone else in the conference.

Personally I'm always very excited about this game because I went to high school in the St. Louis area and have a lot of friends that went to Mizzou.

Honestly... as a guy who LOVES living in Mid-Mo... I'd rather it stay more tame than a typical SEC rivalry. Honestly, I wish Mizzou was in the West.

I get what you're saying with "arrogance" but I would call it "expectations". UT fans expect to be in the top tier of the SEC. The more confidence we have that the Vols are headed in that direction, the more others may perceive us as "arrogant". IIRC, UT has never lost more games in a 4 year span than the one just completed. Not completely sure but I don't think UT football has ever had 4 consecutive losing seasons. That does NOT mean we accept that as the norm for UT football... far from it.

The success isn't just "historical"... it is "normal". And when any group is faced with an abnormal and unpleasant state of affairs... they can get pretty testy.

Lock looks like a very good prospect. MO HSFB is improving as is TN HSFB. MO is unlikely to ever be able to fill its roster based on the strength of homegrown talent... but like UT you can't let the good ones get away either. With Dooley, UT doesn't get Hurd, Barnett, Malone, and a whole slew of other in state players.

Another thing Pinkel does a good job of that works against most teams is surround a few "stars" with solid role players who "do their jobs". Where that breaks down the most is versus teams who match the stars then overwhelm the role players. That's one reason I'm not sure you guys should really want to win the East. You'll probably get Bama in the CG. They're probably better than you in every single match up including your DL vs their OL.

UT is maturing a group of players with exceptional talent. Jones appears to be continuing to fill the roster with excellent talent... Even if we are absolutely right about Pinkel's ability to find diamonds in the rough... Jones is going to outpace him in pretty short order.

Haven't done too much of my own research, just seems people were worried about attendance. I guess "not a sellout" doesn't necesarily mean slim.

It most likely won't be, unless there is a significant surge in ticket sales. The lower bowl is mostly single seats only, few and far between--except for I and J. The upper ring is mostly sold on the sidelines. Endzone with the jumbo tron is going to look pretty empty.

It is very comfortable to watch the game at home. I've been saying for a while that the schools need to figure out a way to draw people to the game instead of just expecting people to show up "just because". HD TV and comfort are the 2 major factors as to why people don't want to or care about actually attending games. Fans watch every game, but a lot more are just doing it from home now. TIFWIW

We've had more sellouts this year than we have since 2007. Winning brings fans--people who enjoy the entire gameday atmosphere than sitting at home and watching at tv... because there is an enormous difference.

But you aren't wrong in saying that there are a lot of people who would rather watch on tv.

Would like to see a sellout, but I'll take a win whether it's empty or not. Tired of losing to Missouri. The Tigers got away with one when Dooley packaged and gift wrapped it their last trip to Neyland. GBO!!!

Ill be there damnit. Yelling like crazy. This is senior day and this teams needs to see 103,000 screaming for them. One win away from bowl eligibility and we need to show we are not going to let this AJ stuff put a damper on this season and the way we are going to start letting others know that they need to fear Neyland again. Come on!
