how do we match up with umass?

They are similar to Iowa and play pretty fast with length and athleticism. We should bully them down low though. We'll be the stronger team and I think they'll struggle to score in the half-court offense just like Iowa. I expect us to dictate the tempo.

Their best player is their pg Chaz Williams. He's a quick 5'9 pg that's averaging 16 points 7 assists.

They have some height and a couple of guys who can muscle up with Stokes and Maymon.

Their big scorer is 5'9" 170 lbs.

Much like Iowa, they'll play fast (72 possessions per game). Their point guard (Chaz Williams) is 5'9" and fantastic. 16 pts/7 assists per game. Stokes will have his hands full with their center Cady Lalanne (11.4 pts/8 rebs/2 blocks per). Otherwise, I like the matchups. UMASS struggles with turnovers and is pretty average at forcing them, so I'm not too worried there. They're a little below average tournament-wise offensively, but their defense is solid. Tennessee needs to control the tempo like they did tonight and take care of business down low.

Also we beat them last year...I think Stokes had like 24 points and 12 rebounds or something like that?

I doubt they'll play as hard as Iowa did tonight. This play-in game seasoned our guys for the upcoming umass game. Umass are noobs, we're veterans. At least, that's the mindset I would be preaching to the guys if I were Cuonzo

Notable games for them:
Beat LSU by 2, beat Nebraska, New Mexico, beat Clemson, beat BYU. Lost to Saint Louis, Florida State, Dayton, and a few others.

it depends.

is tennessee going to get the ball down low or do they plan on being stupid for a large percentage of the game.

if they plan on being stupid, umass matches up well.

if they can get it through their skull that jarnell stokes is the man, then umass has serious problems.

More or less this.

I really don't understand why the offense doesn't run through him. Feed him. He either scores, gets fouled, misses or kicks it out for a higher percentage shot.

and when he misses, the offensive rebound percentage is high, because someone on defense probably rotated to help.

i am happy tennessee won, but thank god i am not a fan.

the game tonight was a heck of a lot harder than it needed to be.

Much like Iowa, who's style wins out. They'll wanna run and play more finesse, we will be better suited slowing it down and getting physical.

Jarnell and jeronne should both be able to do a lot of damage

Couldn't agree more. Once we decided it wasn't smart to settle for the three things turned around. You can get that shot anytime against a zone, but once we decided to attack the zone things started clicking. If we do that against UMass we should do well, if we settle like the first half tonight we will lose. Simple as that.

Bad feeling about which of those two it might end up being.

I thought that post more meant a person saying it'd be hard to be a fan of a team like this because of how stressful (or frustrating) they seem to make their games?
