How bored does a cop have to be?

A day that every one dreads.... freakin snow and all you are gong to do that day is go from one crash to the next.

That is a bad day!

By the way, those pens that companies guarantee will work no matter what is complete b.s.!

I remember one of those days and we were short staffed. I did like 12 crash reports over the phone!

I was pulled over and subjected to a 25 minute sobriety test because my windshield is cracked. My favorite question: Did you realize your windshield was broken?

There may very well be, but this guy was a jackass. He also looked like Eugene Levy. His partner got out of the car when it became clear that this guy was dead set on taking me in, did one more test, turned to the other officer and said "this guy is obviously sober, why don't you quit wasting his time."

The officer could have been in training fresh out of the police academy.

My favorite is the second cop tapping on your passenger window with his flashlight and when you turn to look over he flashes the light in your eyes.

You should have given him the whole story V. I got a vasectomy last week....I just went to the store....I'm gonna butter my honey up for the first time since...its happening tonight!
:eek:lol:

hate it for Vader. i've only had one such occurance in my life that could even compare. i got a ticket once for having an out of date inspection. which is legit. it was out of date. but i was doing 55 mph heading north on a highway in N. Mississippi, the state trooper was doing at lest that headed Southbound.

we passed each other, and he made this Dukes of Hazzard sliding 180 turn in the middle of the highway, and ran me down and wrote the ticket.

i was pissed off, and impressed all at the same time....i still have no idea how he noticed it was out of date that quickly....even with the color coding.....he had to be looking for it. no way he just happened to see it.

As I mentioned in one of the Valentine's Day threads, I had not done much (er, anything) for the wife for this sham of a holiday. I went out at lunch and picked up some candy and a card ($11 FTW). I also got my hair coifed to look good for the inlaws this weekend.

On the way back to my office from this, about a mile down the road, is a policeman sitting in the turn lane of a divided 4 lane road. I check my speed - good. I realize that I forgot to buckle up, so I proceed to do so.

A bit further down the road, he pulls me over and says that he noticed when we met that I did not have my seat belt buckled. He gave me a citation for this. I didn't even get brownie points for having it buckled at the time.

It would not bother me if I had been speeding, changing lanes erratically or blowing through a yellow light. My driving record is spotless going back 10 years.

Is this seriously the way the police need to be spending their time? Is there nothing else more pressing than this? Murder, rapes and theft aside, get on the highway that I drive and check out some of the Nascar wannabes that blow by me day in and day out.

Maybe NWA was right. (With apologies to OE and CD).

What's ironic is there's no helmet law in Texas. So how many bikes passed you with the rider not wearing a helmet, and your getting a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt

Probably not, I'm not telling you not to wear your seatbelt (because that would be unsafe) but the seatbelt law is made for revenue. That being said maybe you could Tint your Windows on the side of your truck so the Police Officer couldn't see in next time. I know there are tint laws that say you can't have your Windows tinted beyond a certain %, but one quick trip to the eye doctor can get you a note saying your eyes are extremely photophobic and you need tint on your windows. The DMV will give you a permit sticker to put on the corner of your window. That is how it used to be. I have lived in the Twin Cities since 99 now. I Have been pulled over for both the seat belt and tint violations, but not anymore. :)

You know, the irony of that had escaped me. Now I am angry again.

Well, I called today to find out what the damage is. Good news: it is not considered a moving violation and will not go on my record. Bad news: I am looking at a $130 ticket. Sonofa...

Here in the Twin Cities if you drive through Wisconsin and get pulled over you have to pay the ticket on the spot. If you can't pay they take you in and book you. That is no joke. The Cops have credit card machines setup in their cruisers. If you want to go to court, you have to set the court date up to get your money back and prove your innocence of course. That law really makes sense. It's not about Law enforcement, It's about Revenue.

it's all about revenue. show me a statistic that proves that speeding tickets cut down on traffic accidents.

Here in Knox County, there's an ongoing argument over whether stop light camera's reduce accidents at intersections. The KPD has claimed they do, while I think its just another police cash cow and infringement on citizens rights.

I got a ticket in Sallisaw, OK almost exactly the same scenario you describe in post1 in this thread Vader, I felt the same way. I'm sittin there while he's going through his lecture about the horrors of no seat belt crashes thinking the school buses don't have seat belts but I get a ticket and I'm known as the too safe pokey driver who sets it in cruise 2 mph less than the speed limit. The part that really bothers me is the only reason I'm signing this ticket is because some insurance company thought it'd be a great idea to lobby for this law with a huge amount of lobbyist cash for some fine politician. It's like anything else in the land of the free and the home of the brave...this bastion of justice, it's about the revenue.

They outlawed them cameras here because they were mailing tickets out to the home addresses of the vehicles registered owner. Regardless of who was driving at the time of the Picture. The courts ruled that is an infringement on your rights.
