why does microsoft get such a bad rap as a horrible money grubbing monopoly, but apple with it's billions in sales and advertising get's a complete free pass?

I switched to Apple because of viruses, spyware, and stability issues. I've had my Apple for about 2 years now, and never even had to reboot it. I dont care about profits, or monopolies. I just want a computer that works. I'll complain about the government taking half my paycheck before I say anything about Bill Gates making an honest buck.

Anyone have an opinion on buying a refurbished (used) xbox 360? They sell pretty cheap, around 200.

the reason why you don't have viruses or spyware with a Mac is because Apple doesn't have the market share to be a target of the Black Hatters of the world.

as long as it has been refurbished by Microsoft, then no problem. If it's an EBgames refurb, all they do is clean it up. Either way, check to make sure Microsoft's warranty applies.

then again, I don't get viruses or spyware either because I'm proactive in preventing them. Sony/BMG's rootkit garbage gave me more problems than anything.

I wouldn't... Like somebody else said, make sure the warranty is still good, but I'd avoid the hassle of potential RRoD and just get a new one with the upgraded GPU heatsink.

One of my favorite customers at Best Buy was your typical Mac owner who thought their computer was invincible... Until they got a virus.
