Nothing like an 11 year old walking around with a .50 caliber pistol. I guess that didn't strike anyone as weird since it was in Alabama....

As all the girls around here can tell you, EVERYTHING is bigger here in 'Bama.
Including gameday parties!

:thumbsup:I was sort of thinking the same thing. I'm all for the right to bear arms, but it's sort of comical thinking about an 11 year old walking around the woods with a .50 caliber pistol.

I've shot a lot of guns but don't know if I'd try the 50cal pistol. I held one last time we were at the range and I'm pretty sure it would break my arm.

Exactly . . . I can't imagine an 11 year old handling the recoil. I'm not saying that he might not have gotten a shot or two in, but if I'm in the woods with a 1,000 lb hog the could charge at anytime, I don't think I'd hand the gun to an 11 year old and bank on him.

From what I've been able to gather, it seems that this was a supervised hunt on a hunting reserve. His father and a couple of guides were trailing the boy with rifles in case the hog charged. Make no mistake, it was the kid's kill. But it's not like he was out in the woods alone with a pistol....

Has anyone seen the website for the family. Some people have left ridiculous negative comments on it.

Yea, I saw today that it wasn't wild. Some guy got it for his wife on their farm and sold all of them and the plantation owner picked it up.

Far from feral, the pig had been raised on an Alabama farm and was sold to the Lost Creek Plantation just four days before it was shot there in a 150-acre fenced area, the animal's former owner said.

It's still pretty wild to think that freakin' things are just out there roaming around, fenced in or not. It'd have to be one heck of a fence to hold that thing in.

The lady that sold it said it was a gentle pet. She said it would play with her small children and even cuddle with her Chijuajua.
