Hire an "Old" HC

No one ever said he would never leave Boise. It was stated and continues to be stated that he would never leave the Pacific Northwest.

Also, his kid's doctors have been there for years. They aren't going to just up and leave the Pacific Northwest and move to a new place with new doctors.

He interviewed for the SC job before the Washington job opened up. The Pacific Northwest thing is nonsense. Also his son has been perfectly healthy since 2013.

Yeah who wants a proven winner like Miles.

Underdeveloper of talent...

Poor O scheme....

Inability to hire the right assistants....

Questionable game day coaching....

Consistently lose to top coaches....

Consistently lose 1-3 games per season than he should...

Someone who consistently looks MUCH better on national signing day than any game day....

I think we've seen enough of that for a while.

Better to hire the young guy who might be bad than the old guy you know is bad. Go ask an LSU fan how they feel about Les Miles and why. Bet you change your tune.

Won a NC with Saban's players and never fielded even a decent offense the entire remaining time.

Miles also made it to the NC game with his own players, and as of 2016 had the 2nd best record against ranked teams among SEC coaches -- ranking just a tick below Saban.

I've read he's partial to the West Coast. That's where his relationships and recruiting ties are.

More importantly, UT is unlikely to win a bidding war with UW over Peterson right now.

Most importantly, if you're going to throw big money around for that level of coach... throw the bank at Franklin.

Oh I don’t think for a second that he would come here, I was just responding to the notion that he won’t leave the Pacific Northwest or that his son is still having medical issues.

Yet they have stated that they are staying there with one of the major reasons being the medical team that his kid had for years.

There is a reason that Petersen has refused to leave the Northwest.

Fixed your post.

Also, he he didn't lose 1-3 games per season than he should. Go back and look at it. There just one hit wonder teams that finally had a good year for the first time in years.

LSU lost to Dak and #1 Miss State. That's not a big upset.

Then there was the years he lost to Bo Wallace and Chad Kelly.

The only inexcusable losses for me that Les Miles had in the SEC were the losses to Arkansas with Bielema in 2014 and 2015.

His worst year at LSU was 8-5 / 4-4. That is Butch's ceiling.

If a coach with a Natty and a couple of SEC titles floor is our current coach's ceiling, I think I know which one is not just an upgrade, but a major homerun hire.

I'm still shocked LSU hired Les Miles,.... from Okie State, where he was :
4-7
8-5
9-4
7-5
Now I'm shocked they hired Orgeron, They have talent lining up at the gates to get in and they keep hiring these guys. Whatever

He refused? Why did he want the USC job before getting the UDUB job? Again, his son has been perfectly healthy since 2013.

Coach O hire was a lot like Les hire from OSU.

Think about it, Les had two top 5 coordinators on his team. They are both ego trips, but Les just had to manage everything.

Fast forward to Coach O, he has two top 5 coordinators right now. As long as he manages it, he will be fine. Canada and that Brennan kid are gonna be a match made in heaven once Etling graduates.

Going to LA isn't that far of a reach from the Northwest. Its a 2 hour private jet trip. Secondly, given the journey his kid has gone through medically, they have stated over and over again they want to stay close to the doctors and medical team.

Are you calling Chris Petersen a liar when it comes to his kids' health history?

You said he wouldn’t leave the Pacific Northwest, that’s incorrect. Secondly, I’m saying his son Sam, who’s now a senior in high school, has not had medical issues since 2013. Petersen said as much when he took the job in Seattle in December 2013.

No one is denying that his kid has been healthy. However, they have said since taking the UW job that staying close to the med team was a big deciding factor in him taking the UW job after USC hired Sark. Especially given the fact that his kid could have remission issues in the future. He said in multiple interviews since taking the job.

Hell he said last year in the gameday show leading up to their playoff vs Bama.

Hiring Les Miles would be like hiring Fulmer again. Both were good at winning the games they were suppose to. Both had a team they struggled to beat year in and year out.

And the team that Les "struggles year in and year out" is everyone else's team.

Les with a talented OC would be a solid hire here. He would also automatically be the best coach in the SEC East easily.

I think we've seen enough of that for a while.

He has put a ton of players in the NFL so you are wrong. To all the rest of yoir points, prove it.

Poor O scheme? Ok, did that scheme have him winning at a high level in the ultra tough SEC west?

Inability to hire the right assistants? Ok thats legit, but how do we know he hasnt changed?

Questionable coaching? Dude has beaten Saban and his conference and record against top competition proves you wrong yet again.

Consistently loses to top coaches? Like who Saban? Ok. Now name me another coach who isnt the GOAT, that has beaten Miles consistently.

How many coaches never lose games they arent supposed to? Even Saban and Meyer do.

Your inaccurate descriptions of Miles are laughable. He fits everything we are looking for. If Saban never came to Alabama, we would be talking about Miles completely dominating the SEC. Miles record makes virtually every point you make invalid. Keep trying though.

Don't want these upstart wannabees Vol Nation posters are enamored of.

We've had enough of that over the last 10. Our brand can't take it anymore.

Get a guy who knows how to run a program, has won a lot of big games and trophies, and can bring in players and coaches.

This is not complicated.

1. Les Miles
2. Jeff Fischer
3. Les Miles
4. Mike Shanahan
5. Les Miles
6. Rex Ryan
7. Les Miles

Les Miles cannot speak in a way that anyone can understand him! The man is a maroon!!

I’m right about Michigan
1 NC since 1948, and it was shared.
Hatbaugh overrated as QB and HC.
Won all his games at SF on Kaepernicks legs.

Something overlooked is that when somebody new comes in and takes control over a team or company in the doldrums, there's likely to be a resurgence - especially if the person's dynamics shake them up. Once they figure out the new guy's really no better for all his bluster, the honeymoon is over. Likely Harbough's expertise is in his mouth rather than his brain - and the fact that there are three mediocre teams and then nothing in the big10.
