It's easy for you over Hooker, Tillman, Banks, and Jones? Despite his tackles being fifth-best on the team (third amongst DBs), the only starting DB not to get a sack successfully defended six passes to Jackson's eleven and Burrells seven, with two interceptions. I don't see where your opinion has any proof other than you said it like it was a documented fact.
I vote for the guy who passed for almost three thousand, ran for another six hundred, completed nearly seventy percent of his passes, scored 31 TDs in the air and five more on the ground. Before his takeover, we were screwed at his position. IMO, Hendon Hooker was the best player on the 20222 and likely the only reason we made it to a bowl game.

I agree that Hendon was our best all-around player. But, Alontae can dance.

Because on defense the corner with the less stats is usually doing the best job. You don’t get a bunch of tackles and pass breakups when they don’t throw at you. They also don’t blitz their best cover corner. They need him one on one with the best receivers once’s the blitz doesn’t get there.

I agree with fossil that Hooker was our best player and probably saved our season. But, I was just about to type everything you said about CB statistics. Plus, the TV angles, which tend to stay tight to the ball, preclude watching the CBs good work and only focus on him when he gets burned. From my seat on the couch, it is easy to spot a bad CB but really hard to recognize a good one.

Very good point. Stats can be very deceiving, especially at cornerback and DT.

If a DT doe not have a lot of tackles and sacs it does not necessarily mean he's not doing his job at an elite level. If the linebacker behind him is leading the team in tackles and the DE next to him is racking up on tackles and sacks it's usually because that DT is eating up space keeping them clean.

If a CB has a lot of tackles it usually means someone is catching a lot of balls on him and/or the front seven is letting RB's and QB's run like wild. Your top corner is not gonna get targeted a lot unless he travels (follows their best WR in formation) and they don't have other options). From my memory, Alontae didn't travel much. Stats, especially on defense can be very misleading.

I guess Sauce Gardner sucks too. Not very good stats. Only 4 passes defended this year. That’s not how you evaluate corners.

Nobody said anyone sucks so take that made up trash out of here. The argument is who is the best player on the team. It's easily not Taylor. Taylor is not even easily the best on defense. Probably is, but not easily.
How did you go from debating who the best player on the team is to insinuating that I said Taylor sucks? That's not how to prove you can comprehend what you read.

Alontae was decent in coverage and VERY good in run support.

I expect him to be a stud at NB in the NFL
