:hi: Welcome. In addition to being a "NuclearVol" I'm also a "NuclearWolverine". I finished graduate school at Michigan in spring 1998, so I enjoyed the football games of the national championship year. Then UT won the national championship the next year. I'm not sure I'll ever get two in a row again.

The injuries didn't start until the 2QTR of the Oregon game. Michigan came out unprepared and over confident against Appalachian State. They looked like a team that thought they didn't have to play, just walk out on to the field and it was over, but it wasn't, Appy State came to play. Tons of blown assignments, tons of missed tackles and our team looked so out of shape too. That wouldn't happen again.

As far as living in Michigan, no, I live in northern Indiana, about an hour and 45 minutes from Ann Arbor, so I am surrounded by Notre Shame fans:thumbsup:

As far as Mallett goes it's pretty much confirmed by Rodriguez yesterday on Jim Rome. Mallett has been home sick since he enrolled last January and the transfer rumors have been going on since then, it's just all coming to blossom now that Loeffler is out the door. I believe Mallett doesn't think he fits Rod's system and therefor will indeed leave. Hopefully Pryor commits to Michigan, otherwise the QB situation can get pretty bad, as we only have Steven Threet, a Georgia Tech transfer, and that's about it.

The talk about Steele was that we were gonna bring him in and make him and Chief Co-DCs since Chief wants to retire in a few years. Apparently, that has fell through because of money issues(surprise, surprise). That was supposed to be the "big splash" and it really would have been. It would have been huge. We got a chance to bring in a guy like Kevin Steele and get tripped up on a little money issues(it was like 100k over our budget).

I found a dubious story from Steele's coaching past on wikipedia.

"During his first season as head coach (1999), Steele's Baylor team was involved in what ESPN.com called one of the top 10 worst coaching decisions, in 1999, when he chose a running play rather than a kneel down with his team leading and possessing the ball in the game's final 12 seconds and the opponent (UNLV) out of timeouts. The ensuing Baylor fumble and UNLV return for a touchdown gave the Rebels a shocking win."

I hope it wasn't over as little as 100k. Hopefully rumors is all it was in the first place.

Thanks for the input. Definitely wouldn't mind having a QB coach from Michigan. Seems like just about every quarterback out of there ends up in the NFL. I almost wonder if Carr didn't call Fulmer and encourage him to take in some of these guys. I'm sure UM doesn't mind, since they're all under contract for one more season and if we hire them, Michigan doesn't have to pay them.

It's true. UNLV fans still talk about it, in fact, and you can download the call of the winning score on some of their fansites.

Ya, they should have let Hart carry the ball almost every down against Appalachian State, he was dragging their entire defense down field on his back pretty much every time he had the ball. He only played a half and had almost 200 yards and 3 TD's. I am going to miss Mike "The Mouth" Hart.
