I came across your board and figured I'd chime in with my 2 cents on Loeffler/DeBord. DeBord is an OK OC, he runs the ball A LOT. He often plays very conservative and can really frustrate you. But he's an outstanding TE/WR's coach, he'd be a huge asset in recruiting too.

Loeffler, BIG BIG hire for your program, this guy is AWESOME. I am extremely disappointed that Rich Rodriguez didn't re-hire him, but it's obvious that Loeffler's recruiting style is much different from Rod's style, so I kinda figured he wouldn't be kept. Loeffler's biggest asset is his recruiting, he'll bring great QB's, highly touted national prospects that are big, tall and throw the ball. Mallett, if he transfers is a kid you all would love. He can throw the ball 70 yards from his KNEES.

All in all, I think you'd like both of those guys. I know the recent slide against Ohio State looks kind of bad, but remember this:

Lloyd Carr and his staff went 5-1 against the SEC in bowl games since 1998, the only loss was the thumping your boys put on us. Carr's staff raked up 2 wins over Florida, wins over Auburn, Alabama and Arky. Those guys are good coaches. The problem has been that the style of play has changed in the SEC and PAC-10, offenses and defenses are getting slimmer and quicker wheras in the Big 10 we mostly rely on the big bruisers still. Since Rodriguez is here now I venture to say Michigan will also be on par with the speedier teams in those conferences soon, thanks for letting me post on your board as I have a GREAT respect for Tennessee football.

Thanks for your input. I would be very happy with Debord as TE coach and Loeffler as QB coach. We will see what happens though

Great post. Welcome and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'd love to see Loeffler and Debord as position coaches on our staff.

Very interesting comments, Wolverine. Don't be a stranger, we need more contributers that actually have something to say... :)

Thanks for the comments. I must say, as Tulane alum, you are getting a great coach in Rich Rodriguez. Our former AD was incredibly naive not to offer him the HC position when Tommy Bowden split. I'm sure he'd have eventually left for a bigger program, but at least Tulane would have been in better shape to have him at the helm for a few years. Anyway, I hope he has a lot of success at Michigan.

Thanks for the insight.. and in all fairness... that Cap One Bowl was a bad match-up IMO. I thought UM-Fla would've been a better game.

Congratulations on whipping the Gators and adding to the slow demise of the Urban Legend!

I try to pull for SEC teams, but once your team came out with all that inspiration, rooting against UF just came natural. :)

I've heard nothing but good things about Rodriguez. What excites me the most is his S&C staff, which we needed a HUGE upgrade in for the last 10 years or so. It's not about meat and potatoes anymore, but Gittleson, our S&C coordinator was hired by coach Schembechler in the 70's and, well, he's always been the guy. His techniques don't work well anymore. Rodriguez will bring a new excitement to the Big House come spring ball and I am excited.:dance2:

Give me:

Clawson-OC
Drayton-RBs/STs
Loeffler-QBs
DeBord-WRs
Adkins-OL/TEs(with CPFs assitance)

If that could happen, and we somehow pull Steele. Wow.

Meyer just rubs me the wrong way, he comes off as smug and arrogant. He spoke well of Carr, he had called Carr back in 2001 and asked for advice on coaching, but I just never liked the guy. His players do too much talking, like Caldwell and Harvin. Our WR's aren't slow, and they found that out the hard way, it's just Michigan has always played "Michigan Football" and Carr finally let the playmakers play and opened the field.

Totally agree with all of that. Some posters, even on this site as incredible as that may sound, have a man crush on Urban. He's such a jerk of guy. The expressions you guys put on his face by dominating the line of scrimmage both ways were absolutely priceless. Wish we had some of those UM O and D lineman coming along with the coaches.

Our system is a lot like Carrr's. We just need to open it up the way you guys did and we'll be fine. That's Fulmer's most common, and perhaps, deserved criticism.

Your recieveers were not only fast, but tall as well. Looked like NFL WRs in the making. I'm sure you guys will get back to your winning tradition next season and beyond.

Hope Mallet comes along. He probably fits the system we'll run here better than the one CRR will implement there... and my guess is that Pryor is coming your way--and he will fit your new system much better, IMO.

Thanks for the input Wolverine, very interesting insights... stick around. Don't get too offended at the SEC chest thumping while you're here... and I agree with your opinions on Meyer and the gators.

I completly agree. Meyer has always come across smug to me and it put a smile on my face seeing your team wipe his off. You guys should have blown them out.

Welcome to the board by the way.

if the two of you could just get a room and get this over with, we could get back to the guys potentially coming to UT to help.
