Hey guys..

Welcome aboard the vol bball bandwagon. This year should be a fun ride. A couple of things you should know.
1. Be prepared for lengthy BTO v Bruin arguments over mundane issues and made up scenarios. It is what it is and the sooner you accept it the better.
2. Roust is mostly irrational but occasionally makes a good point. Like Bruin and BTO you have to take the good with the bad.
3.Dallas occasionally has some really bad takes but at least he owns them and the grief that comes with it.
4. We have irrational posters just like the football forum but at least Barnes can coach his way out of a paper bag.

I like it. It’s like the football forum, but without the sucky football.

It's def not as crazy over here, unless there's a loss you'll see people you've never seen here before start making crazy post like you see in the FF forum. I have found that the more successful and stable our basketball program is the less post and threads you'll see. Back in the day during the CCM and CDT days this board could get very hostile like the FF. You'd have extreme apologist for the coaches and extreme haters. Think of it like the Politics forum lol. Now that we have an actual legit coach, you have almost every one on board with him. Yes we might lose some games, or even have a down season, but almost every one believes in Barnes and doesn't call for his head (now) after a loss.

There was a lot of skepticism going around when we first hired Barnes because many thought he would just be coasting off to retirement... boy were they wrong. They thought he couldn't recruit any more because he was only getting 3 stars, but people didn't understand his plan at the time. He was getting quality high character guys and developing them into potential NBA players and TN legends like Grant and Admiral. He was changing the culture and building a solid foundation for our program. Once he got quality players, is when he started going after and reeling in the big fish. Getting 5 stars like JJJ, Springer, Johnson, and next year bringing in Chandler, to go along with upperclassmen that he's developed into solid players! Coach Barnes has this thing rolling now, so sit back enjoy. Oh and Barnes owns Cal & the Cats so that's good!

The board is great, there’s generally lots of civil and insightful discussion and some people seem to have inside knowledge or relay info from people who do. Just avoid the game day threads if we go down by 4 points or more 😅 welcome!

I almost forgot. SeniorDrill’s love of the Tyndall Terror Defense is to never be challenged. And snarky comments about the 60 Minutes exposé are prohibited.

Tennessee is now a basketball school the transition has been made. I don't know why we went out and hired a real coach in basketball but it has really paid off .

Because he fell in our lap. At least Dave Hart wasn't so stupid that he dumped him to the floor but rather hired him. Fulmer, to his everlasting credit, ponied up the bucks to keep him here when everybody else realized that Coach Barnes wasn't done yet...despite what the dumb-assed Texas AD thought.

It’s crazy at the time if people were able to choose between Shaka Smart and Barnes almost everyone would have chose Smart over Barnes, myself included. Barnes got a burst of energy when Texas let him go!

I wonder if this might be Shaka’s last year if he doesn’t make the tourney

I think he has something like 11 top-100 players on his roster. He better make the NCAAT or he should be gone.
Agreed. It’s bewildering to me he’s done so poorly there after his run at VCU. I’d imagine a lower tiered program would give him another head coaching shot if he flames out at Texas
