I plan on giving Butch Jones a full year.

A full year before I spend any more money on UT sports.

Yeah go take that $12.50 you were gonna spend on UT and buy some roach clips or a bong or something...

Fair enough but how does Jones fall into this equation since he has just taken over a program that is at its darkest hour? Only place to go is up. Unsure how far that is but He is giving a 100% effort which is more than I can say about Fulmer in his last year as well as the other two numbnuts.

I don't know how much effort Jones is giving, nor do I care. All I care about are results. And he hasn't accomplished anything worth noting.

Look, I know he took over a bad situation and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt (heck, I'm the one who started the first thread here about him as a possible coaching candidate, back when everyone else thought he was the guy from UNC). But in order to get out of a bad situation, you have to make big strides to catch up with those ahead of you, or you'll always be behind. Butch Jones hasn't gained ground on anyone. Instead we're sinking even further behind.

Hell no. With Fooley at the helm. I turned off espnu because I couldn't stand to hear or look at him. I personally blamed him for this year's class short comings.

Wait a minute! You mean its not the guys fault that is still unpacking his belongings and getting lost on the way home!?!?

regardless of your thoughts on butch this year is going to be yet another long one. 6-6 would be surprising to me considering the weapons on offense we lost and the state of our defense last year. and since our class is 10th in the sec id say we have at least two more long ones

.

This is quite the stretch in only 9 or so weeks don't ya think?

Same amount of time Gus Malzahn had and look where his class is. Hugh Freeze has only had a year at Ole Miss and look at what he has done. Same with Kevin Sumlin. You can always say "Give him more time" (Doolovers made it into a mantra), but time isn't a luxury you get in this league.

The fact is, we've been falling behind the Alabamas and the Floridas when it comes to signing talent every year. Butch Jones didn't make any strides to pull us closer to them. It was another class where we fell further behind. And now. we've fallen behind Ole Miss too. And Vanderbilt.

A coach that needs alot of time is never going to succeed here.

If you look at the last 4 years recruiting rankings, we haven't fell behind Candy and ole miss, just this year! There's talent on this roster...a lot of it.....and i believe we have a coaching staff now that will coach them up, put them in the right positions, and have them hungry and motivated like we haven't seen in years...Plus I'm all about the 2014 legacy Class....I KNOW this guys will be working there butts off to win...there a hungry staff..and I couldn't ask for more than to have a hungry staff...how long has that truly been?

Right. It wasn't until this year that we fell behind Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. That's why I said we were losing ground.

And I don't care how hungry or hard-working or whatever people think our staff is. I care about recruits and winning.

Ok guys here's my 2 cents minus 4 cents for taxes. I know the last 5 years or so have been tough which is leading to all the negativity. That being said, the amount of negativity is absolutely ridiculous. Heck there's so much negativity let's just self impose the death penalty and be done with it. Sheesh. I know we live in an instant gratification society, but really at least let Coach Jones coach our team through one season before you are ready to fire him. All this negative talk now before his team has played it's first down is like I don't know putting up Christmas decorations after the fourth of July or something. As much as I wish the season started this Saturday we have to wait for it. Butch Jones seems to have a great deal more energy and enthusiasm than the previous staff. We have all seen I believe it was Marlin Lane's comment that after some of their first workouts with the new strength and conditioning coach that he threw up and hadn't done that in years. Different things have to be tried to get the right combination. look how many coaches Bammer went through between Gene Stallings and Nick Saban. Whether CBJ is the right coach to rebuild Tennessee or not we have to wait and see, but I like what I see so far. Just give him and his staff a chance.

#20 Ranked recruiting class is not bad. Expectations should always be better. For CBJ his future recruiting classes have to be better than #20. Looking at the schedule this Fall. 7 wins is a possibility. Austin Peay and Western Kentucky start it off. 2-0. Then come the juggernaut of Oregon & Florida. 0-2. That would put us at 2-2 perhaps. Next is South Bama and Georgia. 1-1 perhaps. Next USCjr, BAMA,Mizzou and Auburn. 2-2. This might be the most important stretch for this team. If they can get 2 or more wins btw USCjr and Auburn this would bode well for recruiting and going to a Bowl. Last 2 games being Vandy and Kentucky 2-0 This team should go Bowling.

And that comes with a true coach who's hungry and motivated, hits the recruiting trail hard and relentless!
What else could we hope for at this point? Ship is going in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.
A Football quote that is so true- Desire beats talent, when talent doesn't have desire.....we will win some we shouldn't with this staff, and when they start stock pilling the recruiting...were gonna have a top 10 talent wise class playing with crazy desire!! Almost unbeatable then...see Bama!!

Just wait till the entire OL goes pro next year and no OL signees. I'd say at least 5 or 6 more long ones.

Why is Butch Jones keeping you from basketball or baseball or anything esle? You serious Clark?

Because they all fall under the AD and if our AD can't hire a winner for our football coach, then I don't want to support anything else they do.

The last time I looked everybody is still tied 0-0 for this year.

This. At this rate, we'll never compete for a title again. We've become what Ole Miss used to be.

You're contradicting yourself with your "Ole Miss used to be" comment. Ole Miss was STILL that til 2-3 hours ago...if they can turn it around after 30 yrs of mediocrity, we can do it after 4 or 5.

You're right, Kiffin only needed the same amount of time to build a top 10 class, so Butch should have done the same. Good thing Butch has those seniors to rely on for his first season. Oh wait, he doesn't, crap. Good thing Butch is bringing in players who want to stay.
