Heupel seems to have his act together by comparison .

We can pick Heupel apart all day—and yes, getting competitive with Georgia again has to happen, and we need to win in Gainesville this weekend—but look around the conference. Florida, LSU, and Arkansas are searching for coaches yet again, and Ole Miss might be next. Kentucky fans are tired of Stoops, Beamer’s on shaky ground at South Carolina, and who even knows what’s happening at Texas. And honestly, it’s not just Heupel—everyone in the country has a problem beating Kirby right now.

And if Josh Heupel wins out the regular season and the bowl game, he’ll be sitting at roughly 54–18 at Tennessee, with six of those losses coming on the road. The Vols also have 11 wins over Top-25 teams during his tenure, and he holds the second-highest winning percentage of any Tennessee head coach in the last 50 years. That’s not exactly the profile of a program in crisis.
He has done a good job of getting Tennessee program back obviously looking at his record but he probably could only have maybe six total losses if he tweaked just a few things- and they are things for the better but I guess the guy is just damn stubborn about it. He needs to replace a few of his friends at some positions. He needs to clean up his team's penalties-lack of discipline and play calling at times and clock management hurt his teams at times. Heck sometimes raise a little hell with the officials -you are fighting for your team. A few missed fg's that hurt the end result which you can't blame hype for but damn it sure hurts right now. Outside looking in - Georgia and Oklahoma.

I completely agree. There definitely need to be some changes, because you never want to get so comfortable that you’re just going through the motions. I was just telling a friend the other day that Josh isn’t vocal enough and rarely shows any emotion. That can be a good thing in certain situations, but there are also times when you really need that energy.

Way better. Takes like that amaze me. What are they based on? Certainly not actual play on the football field. He was a 4 star recruit coming out of HS also, unlike Stetson Bennett who was a walk-on originally.
A lot of the popular judgments that get passed on college football players are based on their recruiting ranking. If a guy is a 5-star coming out of HS, he'll be assumed to be an elite college player for most or all of his career even if he obviously is not by his actual play. People won't adjust their assessments of a guy (up or down, although more so to the downside) based on how they actually play. Stockton wasn't an elite recruit, but can very clearly play. As Vols fans we should know that better than anyone else.

He's kind of like an inverse Jackson Arnold. There are a lot of people who still think he's an awesome player but was just poorly handled/coached by 2 different coaching staffs, but if you watch him play it's obvious he isn't a high-level QB, regardless of how highly rated he was out of HS.

At some point in their careers I’m sure you’re right. They key is not making a habit of it. We've been pretty consistent at it this year.
They both have done dumb things repeatedly over the years. Maybe Heupel has done more, but we also likely scrutinize Heupel far more than other coaches. Kirby did something stupid this year by not taking an easy FG to tie the game against Bama with like 3:00 left. Kiffin did one and got away with it when he went for 4th down from his own 30 or so up 2 scores on someone, maybe LSU? Most of the time, our issue is more with execution than it is a coaching decision. Obviously, coaches are ultimately responsible for the product on the field, but we make that FG against UGA and this season feels better for sure, even with the missed opportunities against Bama and OU.

Remember that one time they beat Alabama? Bama was out John Metchie and John Williams, two five star starters. I guarantee Georgia loses that game and still wouldn’t have a win against Alabama if they had played.

Remember that time TCU ran out of house money and Georgia thumped them for the natty? TCU had no business being in that game.

Remember that one time Tennessee was in field goal range and then got a penalty and then iced their own kicker? Georgia could have easily lost that one.

There’s more. It’s hard to lose when you’re three deep in four and five star talent.

Where’s Jake Fromm State Farm? Practice guy who never played in the league.

Where’s Stetson Bennett the 15th? After winning two nattys hopped up on cocaine, he’s finally out of rehab.

Kirby has zero control of his locker room. He consistently fields a team with the highest arrest rate in NCAA.

Everyone acts like he’s some wizard of a coach. He inherited a great program, has recruited at a high level for multiple years, and he finds success because of the wealth of riches, in spite of himself.
He has an Alabama problem for sure. But he also has 2 natty's and 3 SEC titles. We'd be happy for one of either at this point. Seems like you posted a bunch of opinion based nothingness. Maybe I should read all that **** again?....
