Well thought out post.

Seems logical.
Thanks, Neo.

Just as a kind of p.s., can you imagine the phone traffic between Knoxville and Orlando from Friday through today? I mean, if Josh has 3 to 5 future staff members coming from down there, and another potential 3 staff members already in Knoxville, the back-and-forth between those two groups as they figure out the roster and its needs...

...heck, it's possible Knoxville-Orlando phone traffic shot up by 10% or 15% beyond normal this week. Heh.

My guess is no sitting coach is leaving their school until after NSD. I think more news will come out closer to the end of the week and weekend. I have no insider info, but you typically see more assistant coach movement after NSD.

I would agree with VFL-82-JP. And, I would add that White and Heupel are trying to treat UCF the best that they can considering. With that in mind, I believe that he already has agreed to terms with a number of coaches from UCF but he is allowing them to stay there so that they can get their class in to the best of their ability.

The class that has signed at Tennessee and is in class is important, that being around 20 players. Any more will probably be transfers, maybe the Uke kid from Texas.
We don't need them nearly as much as UCF does, and I reiterate, I believe that we aren't trying to poach anyone.

This seems very weird if true. Why would he join the staff with no title a few weeks back with a major investigation and huge uncertainty hanging over the program and then not want to accept a DC offer from the new staff?

I hear you. That is what Brian Rice reported this morning on the EA show. There is a lot of reasons he could be delaying the decision but the most obvious is, why did he come back in the first place? Was the whole reason because Fulmer told him that he would get a shot at the head coach gig? And he didn’t even get an interview as far as we know. Is he hurt by that? Does he want to move on?

Naming coaching hires after NSD sounds bass-ackwards,imo.
Hiring the wrong coaches due to rushing the process to address immediate, short-term needs rather than taking a thoughtful approach to ensure hiring the right coaches for the long-term sounds bass-ackwards to me, imo.

Don’t think we’re looking to add high school signees with these 5 remaining spots. Leaving them available for transfers. But keeping our current players has been a bear.
Yeah that’s my understanding as well so really it hasn’t effected the class that much because I doubt many recruits would have stayed/left according to position coach. Maybe one or two.

I think the lack of naming 1 single assistant after 5 days on the job is an indication that he was a desperation hire and he had no plan in place for the move.

Yeah, that's what did it.
After typing and being quoted 72 times I realize that it was a dumb comment, however....it'd be nice to have some staff out there trying to recruit or at least speaking to those in the portal. But yeah... probably not the root cause.

I'm just giving you a hard time. While I don't disagree it would be good to have staff out recruiting I'd rather make sure they get coaches that will be able to recruit AND develop the players. Hopefully this staff when it's fully together will be able to do both because the past 3 sure haven't.
