Since, like usual, the game thread is too crowded. Delete or move this later if you feel like.

1. The offensive line has improved, but not as much as I thought it would.

2. Ainge is fine. IMO most of the success we have this season will be due to him.

3. Cal came to play. I told you guys, last year, that we didn't get to see the real Cal team because they were playing catch up. I said if they were playing even ball, they could game with us. I caught crap over this for days. I mean, yeah, we're not tackling, but they're also literally running circles around us.

4. I'm not sure if the defensive line is simply not gaming, or really can't keep up with Cal's guys.

5. I honestly thought Foster was going to be somewhat of a bust this year, but given that Cal's defense has actually managed to stifle our running attack at points, I'd say Foster will be fine.

6. Their skill players are faster than we are, and with Hefney injured, there's not much we can do about that except try to keep them contained on the inside. If we're going to beat Cal, we need to keep scoring points and hope for a break or two on defense/special teams.

This team seems a lot like an extension of last years.

WR's yards after catch is 0 when compared to wat meachem and swain did last time... lotsa completion but then play goes only as far as the ball is thrown...

defense front 4 needs to do somethin....

Our defensive line is horrible. The offensive line is still really bad. The defensive backs are awful. Hefney is unimpressive tonight. Either our WRs are bad, or Ainge's finger is bothering him, because we aren't throwing downfield. Hardesty looks like he did last year. The tackling is an absolute embarrassment.

I like the no huddle. It may pay big for us late in games. They need to speed it up, that would be killer.

There's a time to insert a small, shifty guy like Lucas Taylor in the QB position. 3rd and goal from the 3 isn't it.

Bottom line, from the looks of it, Tennessee doesn't have a very good football team this year...

We need some big plays.... there is not a single throw down the field... their corners and safety arent tested!!

taylor and rogers are catchin the balll.... we need more plays and quicker

and D needs more stops.... not coz of bad snaps we need to stop em....

feel like vols are playin flag football... they are right there for every play but not tacklin em'

quite frankly, i have no complaints on the offense...

the defense is aboslutely wretched.

btw.. i never have been able to stand listening to brent mussberger call a game. he sucks worse than our defense.

thought herbstreit made a good point before the half, i think --- "DeSean Jackson is making your team look like the junior varsity"...

brilliant insight. and dead on, too.

if we don't get a couple of turnovers or force some punts, this game is over. if cal scores again at this point, i think this game is over (right now 38-27.. bout to be 28)..

If this the offense we plan on bringing against Florida, I expect the Gators to score about 3 defensive TDs. We can't throw to the same route every play.

i am still wonderin y they went for the 4th down instead of filed goal when they had 1 quarter and ~10 mins on the clock?? it would have been a one possession game had they gone for a field goal...

I'd say our best players tonight are Arian Foster, Lucas Taylor, Chris Brown, and Erik Ainge.
