Here's the problem...

Leach turned us down
Peterson turned us down
Y'all can name the others, at least 3, I can't think of their names
We slandered Schiano
Butch Jones lost 2-3 games by less than a touchdown
We watched Memphis hire 2-3 absolute superstars and were too proud to hire them away
Majors died
Never weighed in on Kirby Smart when he was available
We were too proud (again) to snipe a good coach from Vanderbilt
Dude went to Texas AM knowing he wanted nothing of this shart show
Kiffin saw the writing on the wall before any of you did
Dooley was better than what we got now

I predict our next coach will be someone we have to look up on the internet to find out where he used to work.

That's the problem.
It really wasn't that good.....

They went 8-5 last year playing a WR at QB, almost beating us in the Process. The smoke us in our own house this year. They did all this with lesser talent so yeah I would take Stoops right about now.
Almost. Oh, I didn’t know you got points for almost. Kentucky fans would be glad to give him to us right now. Their offense was a one year wonder and is the worst in the conference this year.

Guess? I think Leach was told about it prior to Fulmer. Anyway it was not Fulmer’s decision like Orangeslice stated forcefully.

Fulmer did not want Kiffin nor Leach. Both have minuses, but both are on their 3rd different HC job in college. Pruitt looks lost in many ways.

Just saw the Penn State game result...

We have now officially been overtaken in significance by the third basketball school...

Memphis
Kentucky
...and now Indiana

Who is next, Kansas or Duke?

Yeah, you get almost when a WR almost beat your experienced defense. This is KY we are talking about also you, me, or any fan has no room to s**t on Stoops because he came into knoxville and curbed stomped us.

UT fans went nuts that Sunday morning when Schiano was announced and it had nothing to do with Penn St. That was a "convenient" reason to hate the hire. I'm not a Schiano fan as I witnessed his time in Tampa and thought he was/is Butch on roids, but the outrage was because they hired someone not named Gruden.

Had UT rolled out Pruitt that same Sunday morning, IMO, there would've been an equal protest. Probably because he's a Bammer.

Disagree. I took my diploma down when I thought we were getting that pedo enabler. And yeah - Currie was grinning in a press conference like we were about to make a splash hire. But I thought Pruitt was a trash hire when the deal was done a d was pissed off (still am), but the diploma went back up. At least he wasn’t at nasty ass Ped State.

Ole Miss would beat UT right now

What???
Are you saying Kiffin in his first year “Covid year btw” at Ole Miss, could possibly beat Pruitt in his third year at UT???
Yea, I believe he would.
Ole Miss is not near as bad as us at the present time............. Better coached for sure.

This is such an ignorant take...the outrage was about the Penn State atrocites...the Gruden bs had been going on for years without a reaction like the GS outrage..

Your take is complete bs

Leach turned us down
UT wasn't willing to overpay him.... and they were right.
Peterson turned us down
He has consistently indicated he wants to stay out west... UT isn't the only program he's given the cold shoulder.

We slandered Schiano
Um... nope. He was as guilty as it looked. Regardless of whether Pruitt is the right coach or not... he was the wrong coach.

Butch Jones lost 2-3 games by less than a touchdown
Butch Jones underperformed the talent on his roster every single year. He was a used car salesman and a terrible coach. Pruitt may have been the wrong replacement... but the only problem with firing Jones is that it didn't take place two years earlier.

We watched Memphis hire 2-3 absolute superstars and were too proud to hire them away
I can agree with that. I would have loved to have seen Fuentes at UT. I think Brohm would have been a good fit. Satterfield has an uphill climb at Louisville but I thought he was a possible good fit for UT.

Never weighed in on Kirby Smart when he was available
I don't think he had any interest in UT and knew he'd get an opportunity to "go home".

We were too proud (again) to snipe a good coach from Vanderbilt
I respect Franklin more than like him... but there was way too much baggage for him to take the UT job. BTW... he just lost to Indiana in what his 5th year? PA has pretty good HS football. They've always been able to recruit nationally. He's still behind OSU.
Dude went to Texas AM knowing he wanted nothing of this shart show
You mean the guy who ran LSU down... then jumped to FSU... ran them down... then jumped to TAM?
Kiffin saw the writing on the wall before any of you did
LOL... WHAT?
Dooley was better than what we got now
We'll see. Doubtful... but we'll see.

I predict our next coach will be someone we have to look up on the internet to find out where he used to work.

That's the problem.
And one of those guys... came from nowhere to make Iowa State a credible program. Could you name the coach at Cincinnati? He's probably about to go 4-0. How about Coastal Carolina?

The next Saban probably isn't a guy "everyone knows".

I still say Clemson letting WVU hang 70 on them (Kevin Steele was the #1 choice to replace Wilcox) was a huge moment for UT football. No way was UT going to hire Steele after that game and they hire Sunseri. UT's O wasn't the issue, for the most part. Yes, Dooley was an ass but Wilcox leaving and hiring Sunseri was huge.
Flame away VN, but Derek Dooley wins 10 games in 2012 with an average SEC Defensive Coordinator. Whose knows what might have happened after that. The guy had terrible luck while here ( 14 men on field when LSU snaps ball 20 feet over QBs head on last play, lose bowl game on penalty that provoked a CFB rule change, among others), but if he gets a couple of breaks, things look different. Things unraveled quickly, but Dooley wasn’t as bad as it seemed now that I’ve lived through the Butch and Pruitt eras. I’m worried JP may end up being the worst of the 3 because he shows no willingness to change or take risks. What in this world did he have to lose today by playing another QB? Honestly- not a thing. Not a soul (team included) had any hope today the minute JG trotted out there on the 1st Offensive possession. That doesn’t excuse the defensive performance, but it’s hard to get motivated when you know the O gives
You no shot.

You really think all that outrage and anger was because of very circumstantial evidence many years ago at Penn St.? Do you really think Rutgers would've hired him, AGAIN, if there was any truth to it? Sorry, not buying it.

You dont have to buy it.

I didnt and dont want Gruden...and i would have retired my Orange if GS had been hired

Here is the problem.....
Our bagmen are letting us down.
We are not getting elite players.
With 6 or 7 teams in the just the SEC getting better recruiting classes every year it doesn't matter who the coach is. Who on our roster would start at Alabama or Georgia? Who on our vaunted OL, that in typical Volnation fashion we were all star struck by, would make Kentucky's starting line up?How many more players do Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida put in the NFL every year than our Vols?
Do not look for another HC to throw money away on, increase the player payroll and buy equal talent. That or get happy with 2 or 3 or 4 wins a year over SEC bottom feeders.

Prior to that Sunday morning hardly any Vol fans knew who Schiano was much less that he coached at Penn St. Those who did, knew about his coaching the Bucs to fire off the ball against the Giants when the game was over...and maybe coaching Rutgers to a decent season or 2.

That's the power of social media. It takes nothing to incite a riot these days.

While most likely didnt know he was involved in the scandal at Penn St prior to his announcement here, putting a stop to still needed to happen.

And yes social medianis powerful and in that instance it put a very bright light on an ugly situation that had been ignored by traditional media. The information disseminated that day was more than damning enough to prevent hiring GS to head up your football program.

Based on the evidence available, IMO, GS and others were for certain aware of something terrible happening and instead of exposing it and risky losing their jobs chose to pretend it wasnt happeneing.

McMeans had zero reason to lie about GS and others knowing..zero.

Leach...never heard the salary angle (ever).

Peterson...I bet he wouldn't be so in love with the West if Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Clemson came calling.

Schiano was publicly humiliated by a bunch of 19 yo Knoxville rednecks, best coach at the time or not.

Nick Saban also underperforms with his roster. Every coach does. Real coaches of football are in our high schools and cemeteries.

Memphis coach Fuente was the lesser of he and Norvell.

Kirby Smart was hired at Memphis until Fuente blew away the president (Raines I think) in his interview. Agree he would have gone home if he did well.

Indiana is one of many basketball schools who'd beat us. North Carolina, Memphis, Kentucky, Duke most years, Kansas (soon).

I can't name the coach at Cincinnati but Memphis' coach beat him twice in 7 days last year. I'd assume you don't want another Cincinnati coach.

I agree the next Saban won't be a household name. I predict he won't be coaching the vols either.

I agree with all this but his was tried in public without a jury with damaging comments. Lucky he didn't sue and probably a testament to his character in that respect.
