Henry T's Cousin Fires Back

BTW this is what Danny White means when he talks about fan negativity

And yeah this happens everywhere, but lets be honest Volnation's passion is on another level.

But sure, f*** DW, he doesn't know what he's talking about because fans have no effect at all
Uhhh, No.. 🙄

The fire is hottest when you're in the middle of it, not on the outside looking in...

Anyone actually sending a threat of death would be investigated. Someone saying that they wish JG would die to get him off the field, or so that Pruitt couldn't play him is just an idiot who needs a life.

The point, about Updyke, and others, is that Tennessee doesn't have the market cornered on a very miniscule percentage of their fan base that say stupid and ignorant things. HTT could have used that same excuse to come here if he had went to Alabama first and been responsible for missing a tackle that let Auburn win the Iron Bowl, I'm sure when Auburn wins that game, the Alabama idiots come out in force. Tennessee's just been in a bad spot for so long that those same idiots here ate active every day.

For the record can you name those Bama players that got turned on after the Kick 6, or game ending TD pass in those Iron Bowls lost on the last plays? Saban took a little heat for his last timeout and long field goal, but name the players that got threatened that I can google and see.

We have some folks that took really bad on field performance and doubled down it with their actions. I doubt JG's failures were on purpose.

I don’t question his loyalty, his family has proven they’re loyal to the money they’re paid and not the program they commit to. Make all the excuses they want but they know it’s true. Kid and his family would just move on otherwise and not be on Twitter trying to throw dirt on the program. Let him screw up in a game at Bama and see what happens as far as death threats.

I would add anyone that does this crap to players is scum. Just leave kids the hell alone on social media.

You have to be pretty naive to think this stuff doesn't happen at the other SEC programs (other than maybe Vanderbilt). No excuse for it, but it's no different in Tuscaloosa, Athens, Gainesville, Auburn, or anywhere else.

I assume it likely doesn't happen as much, being that they win quite a bit.

JG was quite the polarizing player and that play against Bama will be how most fans remember him unfortunately.

And again, he's not saying this is the reason he's transferring. He's simply ripping on the fans shouting loyalty when those same fans aren't loyal to the players.

But those threats were to the enemy, not the home team. Same for the TEABAGGERS and even the TREE KILLER. Eating your own is a whole different thing. Can you provide us with a name from recent AL history to google and show anything close to treatment JG got here? Nobody is arguing that stupid and classless is not everywhere, but not all stupid and classless are created equal.
I don't know of any recent incidents involving Alabama fans behaving that way, because they have been winning championships. However, Bill Curry left Alabama for Kentucky after the 1989 season, because he could no longer tolerate the abuse from Alabama fans. He and his family had received death threats... and that was during a season in which Alabama won a share of the SEC Championship and played in the Sugar Bowl. They finished 10-2. Think about that. A coach leaving Alabama for Kentucky seems unimaginable now... but it did happen.

You don't see the true colors of people while they're winning... it's how they handle setbacks when character is revealed.

let Bama lose 3 games this year and then see what kind of messages most of their players get. bet it's 10x worse

I’m excited about the players we have now and just focused on them. I’m not going to be angry and talk crap about players that leave. It’s their life to do what they want to.

Like Alabama fans are saints. LOL. They threw several death threats at Cade Foster and Joseph Bulovas for missing kicks in big games. They also threw death threats at Brent Calloway when he decided to go to Auburn instead of Alabama. To hell with Henry T and his whiny ass cousin.

He said “was” happening, I assume he meant under Pruitt’s regime.

Unfortunately, Henry T’s cousin is absolutely right. Our fan base should have never been attacking JG, that wasn’t helping. I can’t imagine the logic behind “You know what will fix this problem with JG’s struggles? A good ole death threat”
Yep Danny has a point about the stupidity of our fan base sometimes. I wish Twitter would do a face scan before allowing an account. It would eliminate a lot of the BS there.

I've been hearing this "If you don't hate this team you're not a true vol fan" my whole life. I'm 55. Been hearing it my whole life.

I have taken no poll, but I just choose not to believe that you can just blubber out "all fans everywhere have so many crackpots" and that makes it good. I don't believe it. I think it's toxic. I don't care how many people like it. In my experience a lot of people like it toxic, and I can't really decide for them.

There are a few nut cases in every rabid fan base.. it’s just the way it will always be. Does he think bama doesn’t have those people? Lol
When Bama starts winning less than 7, the gumps will meltdown. A truly spoiled fan base. No excuse for a death threat, but a lot of JG’s criticism was rational and deserved. This is the SEC. There is an expectation level on the caliber of player you want at QB. OK mr Bama fan. Put JG as your QB for 4 years and get back with me then.

Don’t forget it was a Bama fan that did kill. Only trees, but Auburn’s Toomer’s corner will never be the same. And a lot of Bama fans really really hated that, and voiced outrage, until they went for cocktails and amongst themselves—- snicker snicker.

Maybe. But, I think he is pretty committed. He just wears his emotions on his sleeve and tweets before he thinks.
Tweets before he thinks = dumbsh*t
Emotions on sleeve = woman

Two very desirable qualities you want in a leader/qb

Got it

Then root for someone else?
I root for the team bud. The team for the school I actually received a degree from. Not the loser fans who make death threats or make excuses for those who do. Not that it’s all about money and opportunity throughout Knoxville, but in the end this mentality of people who can’t see past their bellies costs us a lot of money and good times. At some point someone is going to get tired of it and true southern gentlemen will prevail. And when I say true that is not to insult gentlemen and gentleladies from other areas, it is simply to distinguish the difference between those who are and affect the overall product in a positive way and those who are not and do not. I will digress.

Y’all have to realize that for the most part these players DGAF about whatever school they are playing for. They want an opportunity to get to the league and some nice bennies while their waiting their turn.
That's what so many don't get.
