Help!! need advice from married men with kids

I think either one is going to be tuff to watch.
I understand your situation; but as Kiffin would say "it's time."
I'd go ahead and break her from planning $hit of Saturdays.
You could have a win win situation and offer to buy tickets for someone else to take their kids with her. You could have the house alone and watch the game.

You have been only one of a few voices of reason on here. We're talking about one Elmo show on a Sat afternoon this Sat. It's not the end of the world.

It's not about Elmo at all. It's about his wife, and whether the first half of this game is worth making her resent him watching football before he really gets started doing it.

If you don't get that, then it's probably a good thing you aren't married.

Are you responsible for the vols or your family? Would you rather sleep with your wife or Crompton?> Who's more important, your children or football? In the end, who will be there for you if you brake your hip, the coaches or your kids? A lot of positive solutions on this post. Try them with the answers to these questions in mind.

:post-4-1090547912: EVERYBODY needs "me" time, regardless of the love for their family

She knew you were a Vol when she married you, right? You better assert yourself now or you will find yourself picking up pomeranian poo at 3 AM when you are 60.

On the other hand, I really don't understand why you want to watch this game. As someone said earlier, it's going to be ugly.

I went thru many seasons having 4 kids. You talk to your wife and tell her that this is one of the biggest games of the year. If she will take the kids to see Elmo you will make plans to take them out sometime and give her a break. the kids will be with elmo you will have a empty house to run around and yell and no one to hear it and then she gets to take her day to do something. everyone is a winner.

If UT was ranked there is no way you miss this game. But under the cicumstances dvr the game and go see ELMO. Watch your kids laughing, giggling and having a good time. This will prepare you for the 3 hours of misery that awaits you when you watch the game.:mf_surrender:

holly crap this thread is still going.....

well here is my fortunate turn of events.. wife called me at work today, told me she needed to talk to me about something important. so im like ok. then she starts talking to me in a very fast pace saying: my friend also got her kids tickets to go see the show would you be mad if i just rode with her and take the kids. im asuming she said it fast so i wouldn't have time to stop her out of anger....

Sooooo yea ill be at home with my laptop on volnation and the tv on the game

plus like others said, this crap comes around more then once a year..
But all the support from the post was very awesome.....

Now you tell her you are pissed and that she owes you big time. Pretend to be sad

Elmo is weird . If it's not about Elmo and it's all about FAMILY .....take your FAMILY to the game.. lol Just trying to pick a fight:)

This is really a difficult dilemma and the game will be so exciting at least for 5 or 10 minutes after the coin toss.

If his wife is going to get that upset for something like this then he married the wrong woman. You obviously did.

I am married with 4 kids 7 and under. I try to give my wife a heads up for the time of the game and she will even check with me. One time, before we had kids I thought the off week was the week of the Georgia game and she got tickets for that Saturday. It was my mistake so from then on I call the Georgia Game the Phantom of the Opera Game. The Vols lost. Banks was the quarterback, they almost came back and won. This game...I don't know, sometimes I cannot even watch part of the games when I get made. I can record them on DVR, I did back in the Phantom of the Opera game too just with a VCR.

lucky, lucky man...

....Or tell her that she should ask one of her girl friends to go with her, that they would enjoy it more than you. Or ask her to ask one of the grandparents to go. They love being with the kids. Always deflect. Present it like you are the magnanimous one, and willing to sacrifice the enjoyment of going with your kids to the show so that someone else can.

This is my strategy. I slip her a handful of cash and suggest she call a friend and go shopping before/after the event. Have a girls day out.

Husband sanctioned shopping is practically impossible for a woman to say no to. Suggest shoes and you are home free.

dude i am married and have a kid i would record it and go with the family and watch the replay they do on css here in the south.
